SOURCE: Power Steering Noise
use what the manual suggest to use. it should be standard power steering fluid. do not use ATF. ATF is automatic transission fluid.
you only use this if the manual says to usually only on a merzades.
the wining noise could be the pump breaking it's self in. it will do this for a while untilt he pump is completley broke in and is used to the being used.

your power steering pump has a cap on it.you have cold mark and hot mark.when car is cold engine not running.when you remove power steering cap it should be on cold mark.if not add until you get to cold mark on cap stick..dont over fill or you blow the seal.now when engine is hot been running.turn off car check.power steering cap should read full hot.mean level is correct.when you first check power steering fluid and it was real real low.you got a leaking high pressure hose.or power steering pump seal is leaking.if all check out good.your problem could be low tire pressure.worn ball joints.and tie rod ends.rack and pinion steering gear binding.

Year and mileage? Keep the fluid level up so you don't damage the power steering pump, and return to the garage that serviced it. This sounds like something wasn't tightened properly, and they should correct the problem. It is possible that a power steering hose or the pump itself developed a leak, but, it is most likely something that wasn't tightened properly. That's the best diagnosis that can be given w/out actually being able to see the vehicle.

It it water or anti-freeze?
If its water then somehow water was sucked up through the air intake. Check the filter box for leaks. If no leaks in the filter box then check all connections from the air box to the intake plenum.

Sounds like a head gasket, the oily substance is actually oil. Do not drive the vehicle, at some point a $1000 repair will into $3000 repair when the engine seizes.
