Does the brake switch also operate the high mount brake light

Both brake lights are not working. I have replaced both sockets and bulbs and have had all the fuses checked. I also have brake lights if I hook up my trailer or boat to my durango. My high mount brake light works fine.

Did you replaced the bulb with the same original brand from the dealer?..... Nowadays those brake lights have a resistance value that you have to use, to compensate the onboard ECU signals.....

I have tried several different ones and even asked the Auto store what kind I needed. I have not tried to get the bulbs from the dealer. What should I ask for?

Hi,
Get the original bulb for that 3rd brake light from the dealer parts center.
Tell them( parts dealer center ) the model of your vehicle and they will provide necessary part.

Hope that helps!

1999 GMC Envoy: replaced both GE 3057 lamps in left rear light assembly. Lamps both light. However depressing brake pedal does not initiate brake light. The righ rear brake light does work. The high mount...

The high mount brake light has its own fuse, so check that first. The high mount bulb is generally a stabdard type (there may be more than one bulb) or you can replace with an LED. As for the left rear bulbs not working when depressing brake pedal, check the bulbs again for any spring that may be broken. If the bulbs are still good, make sure there is sufficient contact with the socket. If still not working, have someone check it out further.

I have lost my signals and brake lights. all other lights work.Headlights, taillights, markerlights. I have replaced the "Signal Stat" in the steering column, no change. HELP

1. Check for power to the turn signal switch on the White and Yellow wires with the brake pedal depressed. If low voltage, check the stop light switch operation on the brake pedal. Check the Center High Mount stop light (CHMSL) circuit operation.

2. Check the black wires at the turn/brake sockets for a good ground.

3. If all OK, check for a bad frame ground to battery negative. 4. and dont forget to check the rear bulb
