Re: Headlights went out on a 98 ford escort while driving
If both headlights went out at the same time, check your fuses. because high beams use more power than headlights, they are often on a separate fuse. if fuses are fine, replace the headlights.

check your fuses ,if they are good track down the hot wire leading to your switch ,if you have power going into switch ,but not coming out going to your headlights, it might be the switch went bad, also check your ground connections
If your question is - is this possible - the answer is yes. I doubt both bulbs failed at the same time, but its possible. If you replace one light and it does not work, check the dimmer switch for power.
you drive a ford truck and the most common problem with the lights are the multi function switch (turn singnal, high/low beam wipers) you can get one of theese from a local junk yard to save money this part at the dealer will run you about $150.00.
The headlamp switch will cause the lamps to turn off. The switch heats up and turns the headlamps off. It will cool down and work for about 10 minutes and cut out,
