Recently replaced the engine in my 93 Camry XLE V6. Since the tach will not work, I have two wires in a white multiplug connector near the a/c compressor that are not connected to anything, I can't seem to find where they go. Could they go to a cam or crank angle sensor ? Don't see either on this engine. BTW. the engine was partially disassembled when I bought the car, so don't know the vehicle very well yet.

THE A.C COMPRESSOR BELT ALSO RUNS THE ALTERNATOR.AS OF YET THERE IS NO PULLEY U CAN INSTALL TO BYPASS THE A.C COMPRESSOR.SO YES YOUR A/C COMPRESSOR MUST TURN IN ORDER FOR THE ALTERNATOR BELT TO TURN.CALL AND A COUPLE OF ESTIMATES

i would be checking the timing marks on camshafts in relation to crankshaft marks. sounds like timing is retarded

Is it coming from the driver side, passenger side, front or rear of the engine? It could be a cam or crank seal if it is coming from the passenger side behind the plastic timing cover.

if you did not kept driving the car there should not be any damage to the engine i would only change the head gasket be sure to have the heads pressure tested and check for cracks give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your car wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.
