I'm not sure what you mean by low revs? Do you mean at idle? or do you mean at slow speeds? And is the judder like a surging of the engine?

Hello there

If you drive an automatic and it starts to judder at low speeds than that means you transmission isn't down shifting as the speed is reduced. In the first instance you should get your transmission oil changed.

Hope this helps and please don't forget to rate me.

My 1997 Audi a3 is juddering when I change gears and it's low revs

Hi Kristopher, A shudder from the manual transmission is usually caused from a defective part in the clutch assembly. It could be caused by uneven wear of the pressure plate (clutch cover) or wear on the clutch plate boss (The center of the clutch plate with the springs or rubbers which absorb the torque when releasing the pedal) A shudder can be generated from a defective engine or gear box mount, worn CV joints or spiders or a loose bell housing. Start with the last suggestion and work backwards as the clutch replacement will require the most work. If the clutch assembly has been replaced recently, and the parts available are of the same quality we receive where I am, you will need to do the job over. Regards John

There isn't a car out there that likes to be put in drive as soon as it is started. Mine especialy. I give it at least 30 seconds to warm while I am adjusting evrything and away I go. Runs like a champ. Let it warm up for a couple of minutes from a cold start.

Mercedes 1.7 cdi judders at 50 mph it has a auto gear box

Most likely nothing mechanically wrong in the gearbox but check the transmission fluid level and top up if low. Also if low, check for site of leak to remedy it. Judder says to me 'imbalance' or an under damped spring. Does the judder emanate from one end (transmission) or one side (wheel) predominantly. Has the judder manifested itself just on its own or is it after having had some work done to the car.
Check wheels for balance - could be a balance weight has been lost, at the same time check the action of the shock absorbers. Check the rear engine/gearbox mount for integrity; its towards the rear of the gearbox and sits on a transmission tunnel cross-member . Now check the front prop to gearbox doughnut coupling, then the central bearing and finally the rear prop to differential doughnut coupling; all should be sound. Signs of splitting of the rubber around the bolt mounts in the doughnuts or a lot of lateral play in the central bearing are indicators for renewal.

Sounds like you have an electrical problem. I think it would be an idea to let an expert have a look at it even if they only diagnose the problem and you conduct the repair yourself.
