On what? Most cars have a place for a 1/2" ratchet to go on the tensioner pulley. Use this to take the tension off the belt to remove and replace it. Be careful to re route the belt properly. Contact me with car info if you still need help. Its an easy DIY job for most. Belt routing stickers usually on core support by radiator if you get stuck. Some Caravans have a recall if the belt keeps coming off in rain or snow. The dealer will fix for free.

2002 Mitsubishi Galant - When I should change the Timing belt ?

Timing belts should be changed at around 60,000 miles on engines with timing belts-especially on 'interference engines', which are engines that, when the belt breaks while the engine is running, will at least damage the valves and sometimes even pistons. You do not say what engine or model car your Mitsubishi engine is, but most Mitsubishi engines are interference engines. Better safe than sorry.

How to change land rover freelander fan belt

You have to jack it up and remove the underboady engine cover. Lower the vehcile and open the hood remove the engine cover. Use the jack to support the engine for underneath. you'll need to remove or swing the top passenger side engine mount. back off the tensioner from the belt. Auto Zone, Advanced Auto rents a tool if needed. Now you can change your belt!

I have 140K on by 2002 S60 what service should I complete. Did big service at 75K, timing belt never changed. What do you recommend?

You should have changed the Timing Belt at 60K niles, by not changing the Timing Belt you are taking a serious gamble on the Belt breaking on you at anytime, leaving you stranded and costing you thousands of dollars in engine repairs. If your car runs fine, No Check Engine Lights, I would just do your regular engine oil changes, flush Radiator, Change Transmission Fluid and Filter, but change the Timing Belt ASAP.

Does my Civic have a timing chain or a timing belt

It has a timing belt. Recommended to be replace every 105,000 miles, timing belt also run's your water pump good idea to also replace, your engine is also an INTERFERENCE ENGINE which will damage your cylinder head valve's if timing belt goes bad. Hope this was very helpful.

Engine

200,000-300,000 miles if you keep up with oil changes and belt changes especially the timing belt this is usually the most important belt if it brakes you'll need a new engine. Change this belt around 80-100,000 miles.

Unknown millage on timing belt 152000

The interval for replacement is 60,000 miles on that model.
If you do not know the last time it was changed, it would be a good idea to do it so you do not risk getting stranded.

The engine is NOT an interference engine, so the engine will not be damaged if the belt breaks; you will just need a tow truck to get it somewhere to install a new belt.

BMW recommends that the timing belt be changed every second Inspection ii, or every 4 years on cars that have low mileage. Most of the rest of the industry has timing belt changing intervals ranging from 40,000 miles to 60,000 miles. It is better to change the belt at a lower mileage than at a higher number.
The timing belt must be replaced every time the belt tensioner is loosened. Do not reinstall a used belt. Reusing a timing belt, even one with low mileage, is not worth the chance of having a belt break and damaging the engine.

Good luck.
