Diagram of firing order on distributor cap of 1990 chevy 350

The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
The distributor rotates in a clockwise direction. The engine must be on the compression stroke on the #1 cylinder. Line up the timing marks. Remove the cap and the rotor should be pointing to approximately the 5 o'clock position.

Firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2 cyls. # 1-3-5 on drivers side front to back and cyls. # 2-4-6 passenger side front to back.

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Distributor turns clockwise Number one should be in the 5 oclock position. You should be able to draw an imaginary straight line between the coil tower and number one tower on the cap and the number one spark plug.

If you can get at least number ONE right, the others will follow. 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 . get the tiimng mark on TDC, take the cap off, see where its pointing, should be towards the front, if its at the back, turn the engine 1 revolution and line up the mark again. now the rootr will be pointing at number ONE on the cap. IF you have not taken the dist out or moved it. number 1 3 5 7 are on the drivers side.
