Had same problem - pulling the release felt normal but bonnet didr not pop up an inch as usual.
Got a friend to lift the bonnet whilst I held the release from inside, and it opened an inch as it normally would, but locked again as he let go!!
Second time I got friend to keep holding bonnet up whilst I went to the front and released the safety catch as nomal.
Success!!
It seems the mechanism that normally springs the bonnet open an inch has seized.
Hope this is useful.

If the inside latch won't work, you'll have to reach up from underneath the hood to pull the lever over to open. Usually a flatblade screwdriver will help. The latch lever has to move towards driver's side to open.

Can't release bonnet

Get somebody to push down hard on the bonnet as you pull the lever. This should pop it open

The mechanism gets all rusty and the little slide plate inside gets stuck.

Once open look at the bonet latch , you will see it\'s all rusty - about half way down there\'s a slot with a little plate that moves in and out to hold bonnet . Clean all this up and it should fix the problem

Good day, I drive a C200 , year 2005 model. Due to safety procedures the cars of staff members are randomly search on entry to our parking arcade. On more than one occasion the security official...

I would say that it could get stuck if the hood is dropped skew and the latch by-passes its hook. Then excess force would be applied to release it and this could, if it releases suddenly, catch on the grille of the car and damage the decorative strips.

The Bonnet wont open on my Ford Focus 2001, The key will turn but nothing happens? When I Try and lift Bonnet the catch is just stuck.

Have someone push down on the hood (Bonnet)
and have another person pull the inside level,to get it
open when it's stuck. Once open, spray some lubricating spray all over the latch mechanism to help
it stop hanging up,unless the spring is broken,or weak.Good luck.

Stuck Bonnet!

Try having someone hold the lever to open it, then you go to the front and try prying the hood (bonnet?) up with your fingers.  You may have to give a slight push down first.
If that doesn't work, you try 'bopping' the hood near the front edge with the side of your closed fist, also with someone holding the lever to open the hood.  ...not enough to dent it, tho.
Once it is open, lube the latch assembly with some sae 30 oil.  If it is rusted, lube it with WD-40, and after a few days of opening it up several times a day, lube it with the 30-wt. oil.
Good luck!

I got the lid up manually, but the back won't lock down

I gather you're talking about the bonnet? If so check on the slam panel (part that the bonnet closes down on). Perhaps the return spring is stuck. May need a little grease. Just a thought

Locked out of car

I took my 99 Laguna to my local mechanic with a stuck bonnet. He pulled the lever from inside and told me to press down on the bonnet at the same time then open the bonnet as normal with the outside catch. It worked ok. After doing it oil the catch mechanism and it now works ok-but best to keep trying it to stop it seizing again.
