While driving, the engine dies. no stalling, stuttering, coughing, etc... it jsut dies. usually restarts when i pull over, put into park, and turn ingnition off and then on
Hello Paul, You stated your crossfire stalls and the usually restarts. It could be several things that cause this... If the check engine light is on, have it scanned to determine what caused it to come on - It sounds like you are having an intermittent crankshaft position sensor failure. I hope this information is helpful...Happy Holidays.
This will be the crankshaft position sensor going bad if your check engine light is on and it should be, take it to an auto parts store ad ask them to read the codes for you, the crankshaft position sensor fail code should show up, check out the answer to others here that were trying to find the sensor to see where it is and how to replace it.
I have a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire that would randomly died while driving. I wasnt using Premium fuel..since I no longer had a company gas card.. I started forking out the big bucks again..no issues.
Engine stalls or RPM
fluctuates at idle up and down or dies near idle.
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control
