Security light recently had work done on the electric windows and now the security light comes on and the car will not start

Have you recently changed the dash cluster out? If so, you may need to bring it to a dealer to have it programmed. Many of the GMC/Chevy dash clusters wore out and needed to be changed and many people tried this themselves only to bring them to be programmed by a dealer.

And this all started after you flooded the car dash?

the wires you bypass are tiny white wires inside an orange or black sleeve.
the ignition switch has more than one output, it is the likely culprit for your issue with the things that are not working, the switch is not where the key goes in, it is on the top of the steering column near the bottom half.

If the security light is coming on, this IS what is causing the ignition and starter to not work. Next time it doesnt start, look and see if the SECURITY light is on. If it is, then this is your problem. GM vehicles are notorious for this problem. Fixing it is expensive and it will always break again. Ive had great luck in bypassing the entire system perminantly. This sounds like an "anti theft security" problem to me. Symptoms: Start and stop within 5 seconds or less. Random starting problems, good one day bad the next. SECURITY light illuminated on dash somewhere. (might not be lit due to the bypass that HAD to be done to install remote start) Read up on this link and compare symptoms.

Try a different key
Usually the security light and no start mean the system can't read the little black chip imbedded in the base of the key

If the key is good and the ignition module is good there might be some short in the electrical system. Check fuses and check the main + connection to fusebox.

you might have a worn out resistor pellet in your ignition key and the cars security system senses this and puts the car in a passive bypass mode...usually about 10 minutes before it"ll allow a restart...have the resistance check done on your key a locksmith. they can make you a new key. a good recognized key should reset the system...if this doesnt work then it"ll probably be the security computer system that is going bad.

Hey have you recently changed your head unit. I have a 2000 s10 2.2 and i recently hardwired my pioneer 4000ub head unit and the security light came on upon not starting. every time you try to start the car while the security light is on it will add 10 minutes onto your time. For the security light not to come on you need to check your wiring. just remember dont keep trying becuase it wont work!!! find the problem and fix it.

please someone post the answer, my truck is the same way. It used to just need to sit for about 15 min. and would start. Now it won't start at all.
