This will either be a fuse or the brake light switch which is on the pedal it's self. More likely the switch as these are fickle at best.

The brake lights wont work. The brake light over

the break light wire on the lumina runs through the blinker switch or multifunction switch on the colum.. check there as well as at the tail light sockets. on the late 90s gm cars the sockets had a tendancy to rot away... use a test light at the brake light wire in the trunk and have a friend apply the break. if there is power then may have to get new tail lights. or replacement bulbs.

Brake lights gone, hazards and blinkers work. fuses are good

Replace the turn signal switch. The 2 lower brake lights run through this swith but the upper one does not. Let me know if you have any questions. Its not a hard oub if you are fairly mechanical. I expensive to have a dealer do. The part new is about $65.00.

I have a 1997 dodge intrepid my brake lights are not working but the tail lights are so which bulb is the brake light , the one one on right or left.

first of all do you have a third brake light and does it work???? you could have a bad brake light switch turn on the head lights check all rear lamps then put on the 4 way flashers and check the bulbs the ones that dont light should be the brake lights or replace the tail lights they should be double fillament

The ground wire in the trunk area, coming from the brake light harness, might have come off or really loose. Hope this will get your lights working again. Best wishes.
