I have experienced this. This seems to only happen when its cold out and you use the defrosters/AC. If thats the case then to fix/avoid this you can press the accelerator briefly (while in park/neutral) just to rev up the engine to about 2k or so, before you put it into gear.

Sounds like it could be a misfire, although if it were a misfire you should have a flashing check engine light on.quick way to test for a faulty ignition coil is to unplug the coil and re plug them individually until you unplug one that does not change the engine rpm. Presto that will be the bad coil simply replace that coil.im just a certified Hyundai tech what do I know.or you could just rev up your car every time you idle, start your car, come to a stop sign or light or yeah that sounds absolutely terrible.best luck to you finding your elantras gremlin

Engine timing may be off. Also make sure that all of your spark plugs are firing., and that your fuel delivery components are working properly.

Has the Fuel filter been changed? Clean the MAF the IAC and seafoam the intake. These things would be cheap to do first. Does it feel like a misfire? If so Id look into testing the coils Might need new plugs.
