I have a 2004 Kia Optima & the brakes are locking up. Done replaced the brake booster, both calibers on the passenger & drivers side & master cyclinder.

Also replaced both brake lines on both sides. I took both tires off & the passenger side is the only side turning. The drivers side isn't turning. And I unhooked the hose on the brake booster & now both sides are tuning. What could it be after replacing both brake calibers, master cyclinder, brake booster, and the brake hoses on both sides.

Did you do it by yourself? Did you fully bled the brake system?.... bleeding first on the master and then to front brakes up to the rear? Did you replace the caliper drum seal?

U need to have a auto body shop check it out. They can determine how far out of spec it is, and what is required to fix it, as they deal with car collision work every day. Good luck!!

A few hunderd possible causes - sticking pistons, frozen slide pins, loose pads, worn pads, offset/loose/missing bolts - caliper, worn hub bearing, defective master cylinder, malfunction in the master cylinder vacuum boost bellows. Anybody's guess

SOURCE: 2001 Kia Optima Alternator 4 Cyclinder change from top or bottom

Bottom! I'm sure some hot shot mechanics with very specialized tools could do it from the top, but the rest of us will need to access it from the bottom. Good luck, and use good jack stands!

Master cylinder

unbolt the brake lines that join at the side of the master then the 2 bolts going to the firewall between the brake booster and master then pull it out easy as that but to put it back the same method except to bleed the master first to take out the air before installing then bleed all the brakes after installed start from the back to front with the bleeder the farthest from master cyl ex: right rear 1 left rear 2 right front 3 left front 4

Try the master cylinder if that's not it try the brake booster, but first bleed all the brake lines starting with the driver rear then move forward if no pedal then proceed to master and booster

Brake booster

are you getting a spongy feeling & no brakes? first answer these questions & it may solve your problem as boosters rarely fail

Did you bleed the brakes?

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder ? if not you can bleed the brakes for a year and never get a pedal.

to bleed the master remove it from the car just the master not the booster. clamp it good in a vise ,you should have gotten a bleeder kit with the new one , 2 hoses and a couple of fittings, find the fitting that fits, tighten it hand tight attach the hoses to the fittings and place the other end of the hoses in the master below the fluid line ,take a phillips screwdriver and pump the plunger on the master untill you see no more bubbles, leave the hoses attached intill you reinstall it. attach the brake lines and bleed the brakes starting with the passenger side rear , the driver side rear , passenger front ,driver front, in that order. good luck.

Brakes

Your brake booster works off of engine vacuum. It's located behind the brake master cylinder. It may be the issue from what you describe.

Kia brake prob.

Do you see more smoke than normal from the exhaust?
Check the floor mats on the drivers side for brake fluid, it could be leaking from the master cylinder where the brake pedal connects.
