2005 Pontiac sunfire wont start,

My Pontiac Sunfire was running just fine while I was doing some errands. I stopped at a stop sign and all the sudden my car started to shimmy and died, I tried to restart but it would just shimmy and die again, eventually I ran out the battery trying to start it and it just started clicking, now there is nothing....no lights, no ding when you open door..nothing. It was running fine for a good hour, stopping going, turning on and off...this was sudden as I came out of a drive through. no warning. Just happened. HELP? I cant afford to change the battery to find out it is not the problem much less anything more expensive. I have been told everything from its the battery to its the fuel pump. Any help would be great. I'm a single mom and desperately need my car to run.

I have the exact same problem, including shimmying and car dying. I can add this: NO CHECK ENGINE CODES FOUND! The car would not restart, but after resting for about 20 minutes would fire, sputter, and die. The last time this happened it was an ignition control module, which are known to go around 110,000 mark, and they usually take the coil pack with them. However, this time I suspect the fuel pump for a myriad of reasons. Mostly, because the car is 130k miles in, and this is the kind of thing that goes around that time.

Well, you may have shot yourself in the foot by cranking the engine until you totally killed the battery. If there were any fault codes in the computer that could lead you to the cause of your engine not running, they are probably gone now, so the car will have to be diagnosed manually.

When engines stop running, they almost ALWAYS do it suddenly without any warning - so you are not alone. The problem here is that there are probably at least 300 different parts of your car that can be the cause of this. So, I am not surprized that you have been told that it COULD be so many different things. The fact-of-the-matter is that NOBODY can tell you with any certainty what is going on with your car without FIRST performing some diagnostics to eliminate certain possibilities.

The only way any of that is going to happen with any efficiency, is to get the battery charged back up first. NOTHING on your car works properly with a discharged battery. Only after the battery is charged can the other systems be tested.

Pontiac Sunfire 1997. Won't start.

When jumped off ,if it drags to start, have the starter checked, and if when jumping the car off,the starter turns the engine over real good, then the cables are most likely the problem, replace them.

Car stalled at stop sign. now wont start and run.

the 1st thing u do is get the electronic engine control system tested, there will be a fault code stored in the computers memory, most likely you lost spark due to a faulty crank sensor.

Power window comes up intermittently

I had the same problem. It was a bent rod on the regulator, which burned out the motor. Easiest way is to switch out the whole assembly, the motor and the regulator. Mine is working just fine now. I am a female and was able to switch it out just fine i just had to have someone else hold the window in the right positions to get to the bolts on the window.
