SOURCE: EGR Valve needs cleaning or replacing

The link below is a diagram of the EGR valve. Looks like a mushroom with vacuum lines attached.

http://www.chiltonlibrary.com/content/images/8666/images/86664018.gif

Instructions:

  • Label and disconnect the hoses from the valve. Carefully loosen and remove the retaining bolts, remembering that they are probably heat-seized and rusty. Use penetrating oil freely.
  • Remove the valve and clean the gasket remains from both mating surfaces.
  • Inspect the valve for any sign of carbon deposits or other cause of binding or sticking. The valve must close and seal properly; the pintle area may be cleaned with solvent to remove soot and carbon.

  • I hope this answers your question. Best of luck.

Most vehicles have the routing in the engine compartment, near the top of the radiator or underneath the hood. If no luck consult your owners manual.

SOURCE: HOw to replace spark plug wires on a 1998

Installing New Spark Plug Wires Is Simple, Especially Of One Wire Is Replaced At A Time. Compare The Length Of The Old Wire With The Length Of The New Wire. Replace Each Wire With One Of Equal Length.Make Sure The New Wire Is Fully Attached On The Plug And In The Distributor Or Coil Module.

Spark Plug Wire Replacement Is More Complicated If All The Wires Are Removed At Once. Then You Must Use The Engine Firing Order And Cylinder Numbers To Route Each Wire Correctly.

2004 mitsubishi endeavor xls. Cranks but you have to press gas pedal for car to start, then it will not idle car will dies out

If the vehicle will stay running with the gas pedal slightly pressed, its most likely a problem with getting the correct volume of air into the engine at idle.

Mitsubishi parts look up doesn't show an idle air control valve. It looks like the throttle body is electronically controlled (no throttle cable or idle air control valve)

I would try cleaning the throttle body.

Just replaced throttle body on 2006 Aveo. Engine idles rough and will not acccelerate over 20 MPH. Any suggestions?

Hello angel 003801, if the car was running rough, and had acceleration issues before you changed the throddle body, I strongly recommend you get a new air filter. Many people are unaware that the air filter is like lungs to your engine, your engine needs a good mix of fuel and air to perform at it's peak. Also, most 10 minute oil change companies do not change the air filter, at best, some of them may take it out, hit it against something to clean some of the dirt out, and then put it back in.

If the engine seems to run better after putting in the throttle body I would still change the air filter if you haven't done that in a while. Also, make sure that the throttle body is mounted securely with no leaks, look around the area of the throttle body and make sure you didn't accidently knock of a vacuum hose, ( vacuum hoses are very small, usually black hoses, and there are several in the general area of the throttle body. If you should find a small hose that has one end that is not hooked to anything, look around for a small nipple that it may have come off of.

I found my engine Mitsubishi pajero fieldmaster Model 2002 with rough idle when I started this morning. It took sometime before running well

unsure if this is petrol or diesel model. check basics first, air filter not clogged, sparkplugs not sooted and gaps burnt wide. if it is a GDI V6 model, thay have common fault with dirty throttle body(TB) and air mass unit, causes rough idle and gets worse over weeks until it doesnt improve.this can be easily fixed by cleaning with solvents available for air flow sensors and tb's. if engine has plastic cover, remove this to access TB

1996 Mitsubishi Montero has no power..

My 96 Pajero SWB 3.0 would loose power as soon as i accelerate. It feels like the spark plugs are miss firing or if the engine was flooded.

I did a general service which included oil change, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs i checked my O2 sensor, dissembled and cleaned throttle body and sensors. Cleaned air intake sensor as well as the distributer etc.

Problem not solved, still loose power when i accelerate....can it be something wrong with my ECU??
