How do i get the shifter knob off of 2005 wrangler x?

to ask any transmission question, tell which one you have of the 4.
we can not guess this we are blind
even a photo of the tranny shifter helps.
or tell how many gears.
or photo of right side of trans.
is it an AUTOMATIC, if yes, is it 3 speed or 4.?

The 4WD shifter knob on the 2007 JK's is ridiculously hard to remove. Pull straight-up with all your might, then after that fails, get some towels, and a chunk of would with a long pry bar. Hopefully you won't crack your center console.

They sell adapters that screw on to the original enabling you to change the shift knob.Or check with a speed shop.Also some parts stores will have a bunch of male and female thread sizer hanging in the same location as hardware. Sometimes it`s on a flat board in that section as well. If you look in the perfomance section you may also find an adapter kit!

All you have to do is put in a gear that it is comfortable. push button in and pull straight up. IT IS HARD to GET OFF and be prepared to stop before you hit yourself. Do not twist or rock could cause damage.

try pushing the knob down onto the shifter a little bit then try and shift. Sometimes if that knob is raised even a little bit it will be locked in park. Can't be 100% sure without seein it but worth a shot. Hope that helps you.

the lock ring for the shifter fork inside the transmission gearbox may be worn out. jeep transmission dont last long especially if a lift kit or bigger tires are installed.

No, There is no modifications of that sort to install a shifter if you have the application correct.. Oops, you mean remove? Still no. The floor should have a removable pan on the hump above the trans.

ckek shifter cable brokin or disconected

it's a screw on type...at first it's hard to turn but after turning counter clockwise real hard you'll be able to loosen the shifter iknob

check the linkage from gearstick to gearbox
