I had same problem and its just oil pressure sending unit its above oil filter just check it if you got some loose wire or somthing .........my problem was ;i had oil in conector i clean it and works jyst fine
If you start your Jeep cold and your gauge reads normal and then when it reaches normal running temp. and the gauge is reading normal and goes to zero when stopping either at idle or in park, four things that you NEED to check and quickly....
1st - Check the Oil Sensor
2nd - Check the wiring for loose wires located near the oil filter and check the ground wire also
3rd - Check the gauge to make sure that the gauge is operating properly
4th - If all of the above chack out good---then it is your Oil Pump that needs to be replaced. 1 thru 3 should an easy and inexpensive, however replacing the Oil Pump can be exspensive, especially if you get it down by a dealer, if you have or know of good mechanic it shouldn't be that bad.
IMPORTANT: If you are having this problem you need to fix it immediately as you can blow the motor.... In fact if your running faster than 20 MPH and your gauge reads zero pull over and turn the vehicle off immediately and call for a tow.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
My 2000 did the same thing for about an hour in city driving, then the gauge read normally at idle. Maybe electrical or computer problem?
Take to dealer and have pump tested -if left like this you can lose your engine

I have the exact same problem on my 02 Gr Cherokee 4.0L. When my RPM drops so does the oil pressure gauge slowly. When i stop, it goes to the bottom and the Chech Engine Guages lite and bell go off. When i start moving, the pressure is fine till i slow down again.
when engine starts it revs all the way to the rev limiter
