Ignition problem 1988 doge ram conversion van. 318 v8. When it does start, it stars and runs fine. But, usually it will not restart for a few days, then, miraclously, it starts again. Suggested ignition control module, but i can't locate the ******. any other thoughts? have checked distributer, plugs, battery... really looking for location of ignition control module.
It should be underhood, driver side on upper firewall, it does not look like a typical ignition module, but I looked around and for your info, you can find a picture of it on autzone.com Hope this helps.

Distributor cap will have an alignment notch and will only fit on one way and the ignition wire will go to the positive side of the coil and the negative side to the distribuotr points.
I had a similiar problem on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion Van. It ended up being a partial collapse of the catalytic converter which didn't allow adequate exhaust. The problem only showed itself because I could not get over 55 mph going up a small hill.
first ... put a bottle or two of gas line antifreeze in the tank (it sucks up water in the fuel)... if that doesn't sort it out.... your coil pack may be dying
