I have a 1991 Nissan pickup that won't start. New battery. Alternator, coil, timing chain, distributor, coil, Solenoid & starter are all good. Try to start engine, but only result is the "clack" of the starter extending & hitting fly wheel. Doesn't turn over. Any suggestions on what else to look for, what may be the problem?

1994 nissan pu starter drags when engine is warm, new starter, new battery. new timing chain & gear, valve job, head gasket

1. Make sure all the high-current battery and starter connections are clean and shiny. Don't just wipe them off; get one of those battery terminal cleaners that scrapes off the top layer of oxidation. Use a wire brush on connections the battery cleaner doesn't fit. Remove each connection, clean it and put it back.

2. Be sure the timing is set correctly.

3. If there was a heat shield on the starter, make sure it's still there.

4. Get the starting system checked at an auto parts store. Maybe you got a bad battery or starter.

2008 sl awd Nissan Rogue, won't start Battery seems to have power making a clicking sound may be starter, having hard time finding starter location.

Know this problem was posted several years ago, but having same issue with my 2008 Nissan Rogue. We've tried everything short of having the battery replaced, (including charging it), and nada. So, tomorrow morning, that'll be our next move. Sucks, but best thing to die. Much rather than than an alternator, starter or solenoid.

1991 ford pickup truck

I recently had a problem with my '91 F150. It had started fine. Then, after I cleaned it some, it died and wouldn't start again. I think the ignition control module got wet on mine. If you are not getting enough fire, you might want to take the ignition control module off the side of the distributor and take it to Autozone/Advance or the like and get it tested. (You can get enough fire to turn the starter and it still not be enough. You'll need to take a plug wire off and see how hot it is when you turn it over.) The ignition control module is held in place by two screws that you can remove with a 7/32 socket if you have one small enough to fit. (Make sure they test it a few times (until it gets hot.) A bad one may test fine at first.) If it tests fine, you might want to buy a coil. For more detail about the ignition control module, see: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080506033632AAUGhGf I don't know if your starter is turning over or not. If it is not, you might need a starter or solenoid. If you jump the solenoid and the starter turns, you probably need a solenoid. If not, you probably need a new/rebuilt starter (and maybe a solenoid, too.) I hope this helps! Peace and blessings!!!

It wont start consistantly. The battery is good, alternator is good, and i don't think it is the starter. What could it be?

Starter Solenoid Contacts. If you can get off or want to pull the starter and work on it, you could. Lot of work, but if that solves your issues!
How are the battery cables? 19 years old?
Ignition Switch,worn out?
