Check your Fuel Lines and your Fuel Pump. (I just fixed a problem with my 2001 Isuzu Rodeo Fuel Return Line).
Also remember that in Rodeos, as soon as you turn your car key to turn the ignition on (just to make the dashboard lights go on) a certain amount of gasoline gets pumped to your engine in preparation of you turning the key all the way to crank the ignition and start the car. In other words, even before you turn the key all the way to crank the ignition, the Fuel Pump will pump some gasoline through the Fuel Lines to your engine (it will pump the gasoline for about 4 seconds then stop). So when you go to start your Rodeo, remember to turn the key with one continuos motion so that you start the ignition cranking while the gasoline is being actively pumped.
In addition, you should never turn the ignition lights on without turning the key all the way to start the engine. Doing so could cause that bit of gasoline that was pumped to start the engine to just sit there and create problems.
maybe it didnt run out of gas but just shut down, if it did run out it may have sucked up dirt from the botoom of the tank causing the fuelpump to lock up, what you can try to see if the pump starts again is to spray starting fluid into throtle body and cranking the engine, the engine should start and will die out after fluid is burnt but may stay running if power stays to pump and it frees up, you may have to try this a few times, if you spray and it doesnt start then you may have a diffrent problem. make sure to have someone hold pedal to floor and spray for 3sec, then release gas pedal connect hose to throtlebody and try to start. good day.
I'm having same problem on my 2000 model rodeo 4wd 3.2L V6. Other day check engine light came on. I checked engine bay nothing abnormal, or power loss. Next day light was gone. 2 days later driving, a sudden loss of power and light came up. After idling for a couple of minutes, drove off with light still on but all power back. 1 hour later of faultless driving loss of power for a minute or so. Engine temp normal. Had break for 1/2 hour and set off for last hour of journey without fault except check engine light still on. Following dayon startup light went out???
