I have a 1996 Falcon but have the same problem. I think it is the "smartlock" system. If you leave the key in the ignition at "I" position for a while - 10 minutes should do it then it seems to work. I think the engine is being immobilized by this security system. **** car - hope the bastards go bust!

You can start by cleaning the battery terminals and wire battery terminals, they are lead, and make sure they are tightly connected.

Check the voltage on your battery. When the battery is low, you will still have lights and what not but not enough juice to start the car. Check the condition of your battery cables especially your ground. If everything check out fine, your problem may be a bad starter or the solenoid. If you replace the starter, replace the solenoid with it. Be sure to check the cable from the starter solenoid to the starter.

starter motor went on its way out.....if your fuel pump doesnt engage you can bypass that with a pice of wire and alligator head at the end, stick the wire in the top and bottom in the pump fuse port and then your fuel pump should and i say SHOULD engage when you flick the key, spark meter would be handy to have also to see if you have spark for your leads and plugs,.....if you ever need help find me on facebook as blazejosh monoxidechild

Ford falcon wont start

pull the starter and fix the solenoid or replace the solenoid. It is engaging the armature with out engaging the pinion into the ring gear or the pinion override clutch is failed. Have a reputable auto electrician check it on the bench
