Won't start. It's been in an accident. Seems like there is no fuel pumping. When I turn key and press gas pedal nothing happens, only starter works... I heard about some kind of a button that resets after an accident and does not allow the fuel to be pumped into an engine. Do you guys know anything about it? thanks
It sounds like you have to push your fuel cut off switch, the switch could under your hood or in by the dash somewhere.have a look at your owners manual it will be in there or you can ask your local dealer where the fuel cut switch is on your car.

If your fuel pump is in the gas tank the fuel pump is cooled and lubricated by the gas. If you run out of gas and keep trying to start it many times you can damage the fuel pump. If you have a older car you can try putting a little gas in the carburetor and see if it cranks, if it cranks with gas in carburetor you know it is a lack of fuel problem. You might try spraying starting fluid in air filter but to much can damage your engine. Your vehicle fuel pump can run and pump gas but depending on your vehicle you may not have enough fuel pressure to run. I would check your fuel pump fuse and relay and fuel inertia switch/fuel pump kill switch if you have one. I do not know why running out of gas would cause them to fail but it is something to check.
It might be your fuel pump, if you turn your key to the setting right before your car turns on and you hear nothing, it maybe your fuel pump, if you do hear a buzz then try replacing your fuel filter before it strains your fuel pump
Try this next time you start it.
Turn the key to the run position, do not start the engine. Wait 3-5 seconds and turn the key off.
Turn the key right back to the on position and wait for 3-5 seconds. Turn the key off.
Repeat the above one more time.
Now try to start.
If it starts right up you have a fuel supply problem. Either the fuel pump is bleeding off or the fuel pressure regulator is leaking. Pumping the pedal is doing nothing besides buying time for the fuel system to pressurize.
Post an engine size and I'll help you locate the fuel pressure regulator.

after putting some gas in your tank, step on the gas pedal repeatedly (step to it fully), then while pressing, start your car. the fuel was completely drained from your system thus there are no fuel to burn in able for your car to start.
pressing the gas pedal repeatedly (around 10 times will do) will put some fuel in your combustion chamber, so the car will now have something to burn if you will start the car
it might be the fuel pump, have someone turn the key on but not start it while you're under the gas tank and listen for the pump to pressurize, if you don't hear anything, you'll need a new fuel pump for sure, but the whacking it with a hammer is most likely a sign that some of the windings in the pump have gone bad.
it seems to me that it was flooded so it had too much gas left in the dash pot don't press the gas at all when starting because as soon as you turn on the key the fuel pump will send the right amount of fuel you need to your system keep track of it and if it continues to do this check your fuel pump
Odd that the owner manual mentions the issue - seems that they are aware of it. Given that car is most likely fuel injected it's generally bad to pump the gas pedal as this floods a fuel injected vehicle (works for older carburated vehicles) I'm assuming you are just barely putting pressure on the pedal. This may be as simple as an idle adjust at the throttle body or it may require programming by the dealer. I'd search and see if there is a recall for this. This may be an issue the dealer is obligated to fix at no cost since it's listed in the manual...
