I have a 2000 kia sportage that will not charge. It has a new battery and alternator. When I start it up it has 13.5V, and after it runs 15 minutes the battery shows 11.5V. Is there some common problem with these to cause the battery to discharge when running.
Just fixed a Kia Sportage. The problem was the wire that comes from the alternator. At the fuse box end. It had a bad contact and heated the plastic beneath and it went between the alternator fuse and the metal plate by the fuse box.
Clean the metal and fuse from plastic and you are good for now. Needs a better plate tho. Good luck
Hi check the main alternator charigng wire the comes out of your alternator see if it is sending a 14v no less reading on a multimeter if not replace the alternator if so go to your battery see if the multimeter readings are the same as the alternator if so do a battery discharge test if not trace the path of the main wire which comes from the alternator to the battery for breaks and all connections yates210456
