Hello and welcome to FixYa!
As
a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the
positive battery connector and let it sit for at least 5mins. before
reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get your vehicle
back to it's normal operation.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
thanks for your quick reply. I actually missed some details on this post (first time poster). The battery has been fully disconnected for 2 weeks! I tried to start it again last night and the same thing happened. Should I connect the negative terminal and try again?
I have added another post too which I've detailed below:
My battery went flat and I am now unable to start the car.
I have a toad alarm fitted which when the battery is connected will sound. I can turn this off using the toad key fob although the doors will not open.
In the car the toad led flashes (quickly) green. When I put the key in and turn the ignition the led stops flashing (which a toad specialist confirms that the toad is working fine). Another alarm then sounds (comes from rear of car and I assume is the factory fitted imobiliser) and the car will not start.
Yes sir please do connect the negative terminal first and observe how it goes.
thanks again. I'll give it a go this evening and confirm later.
tried connecting the negative terminal and leaving for a good 20 mins last night. Unfortunately this did not work for the factory fitted imobiliser. However,I did notice that my toad alarm did not sound when I connected the positive terminal which it has done previously when re-connecting the battery.
not sure if my comment earlier applied (still getting used to the site). I tried this last night and after leaving the negative terminal connected for a good 20 mins I then connected the positive and tried again. Unfortunately this did not reset the factory fitted imobiliser and I am still unable to start the car. However, I did not get my toad alarm going off which I had previously when connecting the battery.
That's good. Try looking underneath the dash on the driver's and passenger side. You may find a small box which has 2 connectors. That will be your immobiliser. Try to disconnect the two connectors, start the car and observe how it goes.
