SOURCE: Drivers electic seat will not adjust

I just had the same problem. When the seat is powered all the forward, one of the worm drives reached the end of its travel and jammed against the threaded block that it passes through. To fix this the seat has to be unbolted and tipped back. There are four tiny 6mm bolts that hold the motor plate in. Remove these and the motor will come out. The worm drive is bolted in at one end and has a set pin at the other. Remove the worm drive and use a couple of vice grips or equivalent to loosen the threaded block from the worm drive.

SOURCE: Driver's seat unable to move forward or backward

I have the same problem. I removed the motor assembly that powers the seat fore/aft and found a stripped plastic gear on the right-hand side of the driver-side seat track. It looks kinda like a speedometer gear. I was able to remove it, and hopefully Infiniti sells just the little gear.

SOURCE: '96 Toyota Land Cruiser (LX 450)- Power Seats won't go in reverse

Well what I saw when I pulled my seats out of my 97 LC was that the worm gear on the bottom of the track had lost some tread.  (its plastic)  also, there is a cap that screws in to the end of that gear to hold it in place, so when you reverse the seat, the gear moves if that cap falls out of place ----small plastic cap fell out in mine.  The whole rail system is like $300 at Toyota but i found a website that sells the cap and the gears for $20.  I will try to post it tomorrow-for the time being, you can take the seat out -be sure to unplug the electronics, and use a wrench to manually move the seat back and then put it back into place

It sounds like the motor for the forward/backward motion is out. Or the switch is bad.

2001 toyota camry, the driver side power seat is in the back position and will not move forward, the motor seems to work but only one side is moving.

Need to remove seat and check the drive cable from the motor to the affected side. May need to be reconnected or replaced. Make sure you disconnect battery as seats have side air bags in them.

2002 camry Driver's side power seat all the way forward and won't move backwards. Other power seat functions working fine. Tried moving it with engine off and engine on. Is there a manual release?

I found this post area while looking for a way to fix my stuck 2001 Camry LE drivers seat. Sure enough, while engaging the seat motor (it could be heard making an initial clikc), I hit the front rails a coupel time prettysolidly with a rubber mallet. That fixed it!

Thanks to all for providing a quick fand easy way to get the seat moving again!

Power seat won't move backwards

I had the same problem some one on one of the web-sites solved his problem by banging on the track rail in the front while pushing the seat button back after a good few bangs it unjamed and works great now .I feel like I saved at least $1500 by dealer rates.

I was sweeping out my car and moved the passenger side front seat to the front. Now it will not move. It will go up and down---but not backwards. The drivers side seat is fine...

Me thinks some how you extended the seat forward to exeed its limit switch. This would mean it is thinking it is back but can't go any more forward. Locate the limit switch, defeat it and get the seat to auto adjust to somewhere in the middle and tighten the switch at the front limit back a bit before it meets its mechanical limit.

My Toyota Camry passanger power seat is adjustable in all directions EXCEPT backwards. It can be adjusted up and down, and the back can be moved as well. The main seat itself was pushed all the way forward...

There are numerous small motors in the seat mechanism that control the seat movement, and these motors can either go bad or have connection problems.

If you can isolate the problem to which of these motors is the culprit, you can likely get another motor at a salvage yard. They are probably also available from Toyota, but you might get sticker shock when they quote the price.

A motor in the power seat of a 93 Lexus LS 400 that I owned went out, and Lexus was asking $300.00 for a replacement. I purchased an entire seat from a salvage yard for $75.00 and got far more motors than I needed.
