Do coil packs have anything to do with the transmission? I had my transmission rebuilt for $1800 and the truck still did the same studder thing at 30-45miles. So the shop said the coil packs on 1 and 8 needed to be replaced. Another $130 later my truck is finally fixed but I think the guy rebuilt my transmission for no reason.

No coil packs have nothing to do with transmission. I also believe you might have been charged for a repair that wasn't necessary the transmission. When a mechanic says I need a repair they have to prove it

SOURCE: number one cyl on coil pack not firing, all others

Check the spark plug first. then if the plug is good you wil need a digital ohm meter to test the coil pack. if you need to know how to remove the coil pack let me know, to test put on ohms should not have more than 2 1/2 ohms restance betweent coil lead to coil connector. If you test the coil pack on both sides of the pack and get a reading then the coil is bad, if it does not read then you haave a bad fireing plate diode.

SOURCE: 1994 Ford E350 transmission seems like it slips at 45-55 MPH.

If you went 1k miles since that same issue occurred I would look at the transmission. A faulty torque converter, clogged fuel filter, or a clogged CAT can cause a delay in the shifting but it would happen right away not 1k miles later.

On my 2002 Odyssey Honda the TCS light comes on when I press the accelerator the RPMs goes up and the car won't drive

Having it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes would be the first step . Then with knowing what the codes are we could direct you in the proper diagnostic procedure .

2000 chrysler cirrus comes up with 7oo code. Tranny won't shift from first gear.

Chrysler/Dodge,transmission computer's lock it into "Limp Mode", when it detects any transmisson problems. It will need scanned at a transmission repair garage Because the scanner diagnostic tool they use looks into transmission functions and errors, much deeper than a all purpose scanner tool. .Possibly an "Input" , "Output" speed sensor" or a bad solinoid pack. ( all 3 are external transmission parts.. These are very common to go bad and much cheaper than a complete, tranny rebuild.. But many rip off, tranny garages tell people that the transmission needs a complete rebuild.($1500. to $1800.) Watch out for this. It is possible that it needs rebuilt, but an honest tranny mechanic will let you know, either way.

Transmission linkage

hopefully it is just the linkage. worse case the transmission has gotta come out and ur lookin at 2500-3000 sorry that's to get it rebuilt. 3 choices if trans needs fixing most expensive - rebuild your transmission 2500-3000 2nd choice find a decent rebuilt transmission 1800-2500 or 3rd option cheapest find used trans from a wrecker and install 1000-1500 but no guarantees unless the wrecker gives u a warranty on the trans. labour time is constant at about 7 hour give or take an hour

I bought a used Ford explorer sport with 80K on it. Shortly after purchasing it. the overdrive light indication on the dash display will intermittently blink. I took it to my mechanic they checked the code...

Best quality is never the cheapest price. Replacing the solenoid pack is MUCH less that having the trans rebuilt. and usually they replace the solenoid pack as part of the rebuild. So find a trans shop that will trouble shoot the trans and come up with a plan of action. 80K is young for trans trouble, but you never know about past servicing, overloading or abuse.

Had transmission rebuilt as soon as i got it back check engine light came on and the codes said i had misfire on 4 5 and 6 plugs, put new coil pack in still getting the same 6 codes.

Yikes, it's the plug wires. I would check the wires, they will make a code come up and will make the engine run bad. You must be thinking the tranny guys did it to ya? Hang on to the old coil pack, it is worth money and probably good. Check out the wires. Hope this helps.

I think transmission went out of my 97 gmc safari just had transmission rebuilt a year ago the only thing is i still have reverse would there be anything else which would cause this?

As weird as it sounds, the oil level in an automatic transmission can cause a few weird things like this so maybe a seal wasn't put in correcly when they rebuilt and oil leaked out, causing bugs and whatnot since the tranny doesn't have enough oil to build the right pressure to operate completely. And if they rebuilt it though, they should've changed the clutch packs in the tranny, but it could happen that they forgot some, or installed wrong and they broke after a while or a host of other things, cause in some models there are 2 or 3 different clutch packs, one for reverse (but not on all models) one for the normal drive gears (gears 1 through 3) and another for the overdrive (4th). So if the clutchpack for the normal drive gears broke or is too worn out cause they forgot to change it, then it would shift in reverse since the reverse clutch pack is good, and not go into drive cause the driver packs are shot. Although I never did dismantle a safari transmission so i cannot garanty you have a seperate clutch pack for reverse or not, so ask a local mechanic that is used to working with those models if it is possible in this model or not before payin to get the tranny opened again. If it's impossible for the clutch packs to cause this and the fluid level is OK, then the problem is probably in the valve body solenoid pack, and in that case it's bad news for the tranny... valve bodies are muchos muchos money and so is the ammount the garage will charge to change it.

2001 Dodge ram 4wd transmission

Yes that could be. and the transmission control module is re learing the driving condition. I would give it a 2 week break in period. I would take back to the shop if the condition does not clear up in two weeks. They may have to re adjust the bands inside. This should be free of charge considering the shop warranty the work parts and labor. I would not let the shop tell you this is a different condition from being rebuilt. Checking the bands and adjusting the tranmission is part of a rebuilding processes.

Good Luck
