Make sure you are stepping on the brake petal when you push the start button or it won't start up.

SOURCE: dash warning light not found in manual - hot to turn it off

The flashing key-inside-a-car means the anti-theft system is working properly. On page 84 of the 2009 Prius owners manual, the explanation indicates that a flashing key-inside-a-car is normal, and is desired. It should extinguish when the automobile is operating. It may be distracting, but it's a good thing!!

I had a wire connector on the front of the engine that had so much tension, the wires broke. I didn't notice until a wet day when the car wouldn't start (and the Check Engine light was on). (The error code was related to an Emissions error.) The connector is located on the engine, front, just left of center. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: the van won't start.

You need to at the very least charge the battery, and worst case, yo need to replace it-a digital voltage meter (they cost $15) can be used to measure voltage, it needs to be at least 12.4 volts, engine off. If it is lower, get someone to remove it, and take it to a commercial auto parts store who will charge it for free, so that they can load test it to see if it is viable.

If the smart key battery gets low to where it won't start the car you can hold the smart key with the logo facing the start button close to the button then push it to start the engine.

I changed my car battery, now my 2008 Nissan Altima key fob won't work

There is a special procedure involved in keying your fob to your car once the battery has been changed. You must lock and open the door with your key. Turn the ignition to "on"(not start) then push the fob's open and close button, then shut off ignition. This procedure is done everything the key battery is changed. Hope this can help you!

My Prius 2006 will not start with the remote not in the key hole.

I had the same problem with 2007 Prius.
Before doing the resetting procedure, look under the steering wheel and see if there is a "key" button. Mine had been pushed in,inadvertently during an inspection, which immobilized the "smart" operation. Simply pushing the button solved the problem.
