Location of fuel filter for 97 jeep cherokee - 1997 Jeep Cherokee

The combination Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Regulator is located on the fuel pump module. The fuel pump module is located in top of fuel tank.

I believe its actually a sock located on yhe pump housing. They may have another one under the driver seat. Follow the line from tank to fuel rail. If you don't see one then its just the one in the tank. The housing is pretty easy to take apart. Ebay you can get pump motor and sock for like $20

there is no external fuel filter on your jeep, in 1997 they changed the design and put a filter sock over the fuel pump intake in the fuel tank. they only get changed when you end up replacing the fuel pump

You are right - the 97 Jeep with the 6 cyl engine does not have a replaceable fuel filter. There is a screen in the tank before the pump.
You have to drain the tank then drop it to the ground. The pump comes out the top of the tank.

On 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee MFI the Fuel Filter is located as part of the fuel pressure regulator assembly which is located on the fuel pump module.The fuel pump module is located on top of the fueltank.

In these models the fuel filter is located inside the gas tank with the fuel pump.

Location of the fuel filter on 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is in the fuel tank and is part of the fuel pump assembly/Module system. It's exactly in front of the fuel tank on the Driver's side. The fuel filter lines have tabs on them pinch the tabs and pull the line off. Good luck!

It is located under the drivers side of the vehicle, towards the rear. Follow the metal tubing to the rear, and you will see a small canister. That is the filter. You just detatch it and install new. BEFORE you do, buy a new one and note how it is installed. Verry easy. BEWARE! gas will run out of BOTH ends of the tubing as you remove it and out of the filter. They are directional. You have to put it in a certain way. It will be marked with an arrow.

The Fuel Filter is located under vehicle, driver side, below bed area, front of fuel tank, mounted on chassis in fuel line.
