2000 Jetta electrical issue - panel lights shut off and back on suddenly

This seems to just happen when I have my windshield wipers on: every few minutes, sometimes seconds, and only lasts a couple seconds, all dash lights will go off, speedometer will go down, etc then everything clicks back on. Anyone know what might be the issue with this?
Thanks!!!

Is the airbag light on? Also is there any aftermarket parts like a distance starter or kill switch alarm on the vehicle?

SOURCE: My windshield wipers suddenly quit working.

First check the fuse, if the fuse is good check to see if you are getting power at the wiper motor. Power at the motor means bad motor, no power is either the switch or wiring.

You need to check your Fuses.. It sounds like you blew a fuse that controls Those Items..

It can be several things. Te simple one is that the connector behind the cluster is loose. The other is the circut board that makes up the cluster is going bad. Try disconnecting the cluster and re connecting. If this does not work, try replacing it with a sed one from a salvage yard or from ebay.

well you can always reset the cars computer by simply unhooking the battery which will make all the lights go away, but if there is a problem with the car, they will come back on within an hour or two from unhooking the battery. but you may get lucky and they may stay off.

Washer fluid is probably frozen, have you checked the fuse for the wipers? There should be an overload protection in case the blades stick

2000 VW jetta VR6 windshield wipers wont work

first try the fues box see if you have a blown fues, next if you put your wipers on can you hear the motor running for them? if you can the linkage has poped off from the motor, its a bit awkward to get it back on and no gaurentee that it will saty on, you might have to replace linkage, or, it might be the cogs on the actual wiper arms have splayed and are now smooth so they dont grip to move, you can take them off by the nut on the arm , get a can (coke can or simular) cut a rectangle out of it the hight and width if the cog, rap it round the cog, (make sure it does not overlap on the ends) and force the arm back into place and then do the nut up, this is just a short quick fix if that is the case you will have to replace the motor, also you can check the relay to the motor in the fues box, give it a tap a couple of times it might work again if not replace it...hope you find these sugestions helpful

2000 Saturn LS, windshield wipers park in the middle of the windshield. How can I fix this?

The wipers are parking in the middle because the timing mechanism is off. Once they start doing this it seems to continue to happen so the 1st suggestion is to replace the wiper motor. If U don't want to spend the $ right now it's a pretty easy fix to reset the timing. Park the wipers & remove the wiper arms. Then remove the plastic cowling that covers the wiper motor & the motor assembly. Turn the wiper assembly over without turning the motor. Remove the nut on the arm of the motor. Repostion the arm pointing away from the closet wiper directly inline with the short arm. reassemble.
