Question about 2005 Audi A3

1 Answer

Hello, I have a problem with my Audi A3 2001 (Y-reg). If car was not driven for more than 2 days it is impossible to switch on engine without booster (battery runs off). However when I trying to switch it without booster it shows "FUSE". After boosting everything seems ok and even after 15 minutes drive engine starts normally. I guess it could be Alarm Fuse problem because sometimes it starts alarm without any reason. Have tried to switch off interior monitor (near driver's door) but didn't help. Any solutions?

The easiest way to find an electrical draw is to remove the negative battery cable and put a test light in between the battery post and the cable. If a draw is present the light will light bright, a dim light is normal. You can now remove fuses until you find the circuit that has a short. You should start at the alternator, it is very common that a diode will short out inside of the alternator allowing it to still charge, but also have a direct short.

Try disarming the car from the trunk. Sounds like the door lock switch is not deactivating the alarm, which it should, with or without the remote.

Had a similar problem audi come into my shop.  No headlights, blower motor would not work, wipers would not work.  After dinking around found ignition switch wires had burn't up.  Remove top steering column by taking out two very small philips screws from under column.  Look at top LH side of column w/ top cover removed.  Probably will find wires burnt up.

Why is my Audi A4 2010 petrol only doing about 300 miles before oil light comes on

2 questions.
1) Is the oil actually low on the dipstick?
If it is, you might have an oil leak, so you would need to look underneath and see. Also look for puddles when you park.
The most common reason for such consumption would be a burst oil pressure switch, or a leaking valve cover gasket.
Either of these will leak lots of oil.
The last possible reasons, which are really rare, would be engine parts defective,( like oil rings), or a leak in the brake booster which would suck oil from the crankcase into the brake booster.
2) If the oil is not leaking out, and the dipstick shows full, you will be needing a new oil pressure switch, or to have the electronics repaired.
God bless your efforts.

Possible 4 way emergency flasher switch faulty. This is an electronic switch.

Check under battery for corrosion of the ground cable where it attaches to the chassis and engine.

Others have reported fuse block melting underneath the fuse holders.

How can i start the audi becuse the battery is dad

You could try to 'jump-start' with a booster cable.
Connect one end of the negative cable of the booster-battery to its negative terminal, and connect the other negative end of the booster-battery to the engine block (ground).
If booster battery is not maintenance free, you must take off their top caps.
Connect each ends of the positive booster-cable to the positive ends of each battery.
Start the car with good battery first, then start the Audi.
If the Audi fails to start after about 20-minutes, it means that its battery needs to be removed and charged with battery-charger, or a new one put in its place.

If the Audi has a standard transmission, you could have helpers push it, and apply the 2nd gear once it starts rolling.
The engine should fire up.
If it fails to fire up, have the dead battery replaced or re-charged.
