I have a 1989 buick regal with a 3.1 liter v6 ingine. I just replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel strainer. about a two or three weeks later i was driving it and it just died on me. It would try and turn over but would act like it wasn't getting any gas to the fuel injectors. Now I can start it and drive it but when i hit the gas really hard it stalls for a second. it will continue doing that until it dies and wont start back. also when the motor gets hot it will die and not start back. it just tries to turn over but never does. could someone help me out?

More than likely a fuel problem . With a gauge check the fuel pressure and flow . if flow is low replace filter if pressure is low replace pump.

SOURCE: 1996 Buick Regal Custom w/3.1 liter-No Spark

disconnect you battery. take something and fray back the plastic on the main hot wire on the coil. take another wire and wrapp it to the main wire you just frayed. now take that wire and run it to you ignition fuse. re connect you battery and see if your vehicle will start. if so than you have either a break or a short in you hot wire for your coil.

SOURCE: I have a 1993 buick regal custom with 3.8 V6 fault codes

Idle position switch or sensor. I had 93 that would stall when i came to a stop. Cost me $43 but it was worth it. I don't know if this will fix it, but it sounds like it would.

SOURCE: my 1989 buick regal wont start trys but wont

COULD BE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. LOCATED ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE ENGINE NEAR THE FREEZE PLUGS. I HAVE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND THIS SHOULD FIX IT. YOU WILL NEED AN 8MM WRENCH TO REMOVE THE BOLTS THAT HOLD IT IN PLACE. BEST OF LUCK. KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA.

Why does my buick regal miss constantly especially up hill?

Without knowing the year of the vehicle, I must assume that it is an older, high-mileage vehicle. Things to check:
  1. Tune-up (if the vehicle has not had one in the last 5 years or 25,000 miles);
  2. Check air filter;
  3. Replace fuel filter;
  4. Fuel may be contaminated. Replace all fuel in vehicle;
  5. If the problem persists, check for clogged fuel pickup strainer, proper operation of the fuel pump, and proper operation of the fuel pressure regulator.
  6. Avoid fuels with high ethanol content, and use a fuel system water remover additive when you must use ethanol fuel blends.

Need to change fuel filter on 1996 Buick Regal 3.8 Where is it located on car, how do I replace and what is "strainer " and does it come w/filter?

look under car follow fuel line you will find the filter.. buy one first so you know what you are looking for. its to replace once you find it. The "strainer" is an item that keeps gtrash from getting into the electric fuel pump.. you do not usually replace the strainer unless you replace the pump it requires removing the gas tank.

My 1999 Buick regal will start but within in a minute it will no longer run. All lights work and radio. It will not keep running almost as if it is flooded.

It sounds like a fuel pump resister. I had exact same problem with my regal, resistor has 2 black leads, ceramic and it shapes like horse shoe. mine cost $79.95. Before I know this, I had the dealer replaced fuel pump, fuel filter still didn't fix the problem, and they suggested injector madulator. Very fortunate I ran into a friend has the same 1999 buick regal V6 SC and had same problem told me about this fix. I called 4 buick dealership parts dept.and asked to buy a fuel pump resistor they all told me that there no such thing! So, if want this p[art go to GM parts dealership.
And ask them to show you where it locates. Because it hidden inside engine compartment.

Hope it'll fix your problem like it did mine.
