I would say install as is,you can always reset at 8 degrees if engine won't start.Can you move distrubeter

TIMING MARKS SHOULD BE A NOTCH ON THE CAM GEAR, AND ONE ON THE CRANK GEAR! THEY SHOULD BE LINED UP FACING EACH OTHER!

line up the marks on the gears

Get a new belt with marks on it. They're 25 bucks. easy fix. Next time mark it b/4 you take it off.

the timming should be set @ 6BTC you will need a timming light to check it.
You should go buy a manual from your local automotive store befor changing your timming belt
