Hi, you probably have air in the system. Park on an incline, turn the heater on, open the radiator cap, start the engine, and let it run until the thermostat opens. Keep the radiator full and when the level stops gong down your heater should be working again.

what happens if that doesn't work then what would you suggest

I would have to ask you more questions. Are you the same original customer, as your account name has changed slightly? If yes, why did you change the thermostat? Is the car overheating? If yes, it's possible you have a bad head gasket. This can let combustion gasses into the cooling system that will continually form bubbles that may block off the heater water circuit. Normally when this happens, you would see bubbles coming up after performing the steps I originally recommended.

You have a lassic case of air trapped in the cooling system. There should be a small cap on the upper radiator hose to allow you to fill the engine block. You only filled the reservoir, radiator and rad hose down to the thermostat. You did not fill the block. If you can't burp it, go to a shop with evac/fill equipment, they can purge the air for about $75.

Please rate if this helps. Good luck. report back.

I already purged the system and everything is working fine but the heater

find the heater hoses in the engine compartment and see if they are both hot when the engine is at operating temperature. report findings.
Also, read owners manual to see if you have a degas bottle instead of a coolant reservoir. Does it have a pressurized cap on the plastic bottle. If yes, it is a degas bottle that purges air by itself from the cooling system.

I have a coolant reservoir. To purge the system on this car there is a service point on top of the upper radiator hose the you can open with a key and that's how it releases air out of the system. I'm not quite sure where the heater hoses are located

SECTION 303-03: Engine Cooling 2000 Lincoln LS Workshop Manual

    DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

    The degas bottle:

provides a location for system fill.
contains coolant expansion and system pressurization.
    provides air separation during operation.
replenishes the engine coolant to the system.

    On 3.0L engines

    Open the engine air bleed.

    On all engines

    Open the heater air bleed.

Add coolant to the degas bottle allowing the system to equalize until no more coolant can be added.
So, you have 2 air bleeds to open.

Engine coolant thermostat/water outlet assembly replace for 2000 lincoln ls

First with the engine cool, drain some of the antifreeze from the radiator. Second, take the hose clamp off of the upper radiator hose on the engine side and slide the hose off the water neck, some antifreeze might spill out. Third, remove the two bolts that hold the water neck and remove the waterneck, some antifreeze may spill out. Fourth, remove the old thermostat and o-ring , clean the sealing surface and install the new thermostat and o-ring the same way it came out. Last just reverse the procedure to get it back together, tightening the two waterneck bolts to 18 ft. Lbs. Fill with 50/50 antifreeze and water start it up and check for leaks. And you are done. Should only take about 20-30 minutes

Check and see if you have the correct level of coolant in your resavoir. if you do there are 2 breather holes to vent any air in the system, one is on that plastica assembly you replaced the other is back by the resavoir. you can find instructions on how to use these ont the internet.

I also need to find my thermostat on my 2000 silverado p/u.

The thermostat on V6 engines is under the thermostat housing at the engine side of the top radiator hose. The thermostat on V8 models is found by tracing the bottom radiator hose back to the thermostat housing on the engine. The housing, thermostat, and O-ring on the V8 models is built as an assembly and will have to be replaced as such.

2000 lincoln ls heater not working...thermostat?

- If temp guage reads normal, the lack of heat may be due to the Heater Control Valve. Located in front of the radiator. Lower passenger side. A real bugger to replace.
- The plastic cap just over the thermostat is key in re-filling the anti freeze and bleeding air.

2000 Lincoln ls overheating

There is a hose on the side of the coolant resevoir that has a straight blade screwdriver fitting in it. Open the fitting and this will bleed the heads on the LS. Without opening this you will never get the air out of the head, trust me.
