Car Radio, Casette Player and CD Player not working

Hi,

We bought a '97 Ford Expedition and when we switch/press the radio on the radio channels on the display are changing constantly like crazy (FM/AM), even if we press search. There's no sound at all, just the constant changing of the radio channels on the display. The same with the CD playes and casette, there's no sound and constant changing of channels even though it's not on radio. But when we parked indoor, sometimes we get a radio sound and with in a few seconds it's gone.

Please help. We don't know what's the solution, if it's the antenna or some electrical wiring...

Thanks!

Lei

Hello Lei,

It sounds like the antenna has came loose from the back of the radio and the wiring harness is loose.

Make sure you have a good ground going to the radio, or this will cause a short and make the radio do strange things, the fact you sometimes get a signal tells me the radio is in working condition.

We recently bought a 2001 ford. I thought it had

you need to check you owners manual in the glove box under the radio section, your car probably has a six cd box under a seat or in a console but it should tell you where,or even stop in a ford garage and have them show you where it is

My cd's are not ejecting from my 2003 Ford Expedition CD Player

Your cooling fan in the radio is broken. Ford has a real problem with this. Wait and let it cool down and it should come out. Then replace the radio, it will cost more to fix than replace.

WIRING CHANGE FOR 2002 DODGE CARAVAN

Your best bet on that one is to go to a place that sells car audio systems or even some autoparts retailers have them, and get the proper adapter harness already made up. A few more dollars but, a whole lot less headaches.

Radio does not work but cd does

Mine had a similar problem (radio/tape casette days a 2 decades ago) Had to return the radio 3 times till they finally fixed it correctly. It was a problem internal to the radio. Sounds like you may have a compnent loose & not soldered well to the PC board. Or maybe it's a bad component & got fried. (output transistors ?)

Check your fuses, the radio fuse in your fuse block may have blown when you rehooked up the new battery

98 Deville casette/radio stereo won't play after swapping to CD/Casette/radio

Since the replacement is a different one from the one you are replacing, the car wiring harness is probably different from the one needed for the new radio. This is a really important difference if the new one is part of a Bose system and that is not the option installed in your car. The best way to check is for you to identify the option codes for each radio and go to alldatadiy.com and compare the wiring diagrams.
