Same problem occurred today. Disconnecting the battery for 60 seconds cleared the stability, traction and failsafe mode but check engine light is still on. No obd2 codes before or after battery disconnect. Will bring to dealer Monday

I had the same problem. I took into a mechanic who thought the problem was due to worn out brake pads. My husband changed the brakes both front and back and I haven't had the problem since.I had the same problem. I took into a mechanic who thought the problem was due to worn out brake pads. 2004 chevy SSR Traction Control fail light comes on when the Traction Control switch is selected ON. This happens with car moving or in park. This SSR has an automatic transmission and a 5.3 L. engine. This SSR has sat in my garage all winter, ran the engine a lot but didn't get out of the garage for 3 months.2004 chevy SSR Traction Control fail light comes on when the Traction Control switch is selected ON. If you disassemble the instrument cluster to disable the light, an open circuit is created and the powertrain control module is put into a "limp in" or "service" mode. You maximum engine rpm is reduced. You maximum vehicle speed is reduced to 50 mph and several other systems are disabled (like stability control and traction control). You're better off just having it diagnosed and repaired properly.
I have had this on B.M.W`s the traction control sensors on the front or rear hubs pack up,the quick way to check this is diagnostics it works cheaper in the long run..Good-luck....
42 miles with a jaguar. First I love Jaguars. Youll get to your home by a tow truck. The car is talking to you say its sick. Here is what will happen, The TRAC, ASC, light is on okay the APP will now go to limp home mode what this mean it will default giving limited operations, youll probable just go 30mph, and that is just it. The transmission does not know what gear or how fast its going so it communicates to the powertrain it tell it I dont know what Im doing so it activates the traction control and say keep me safe the traction control say okay Ill get disable, then the transmission control tell the powertrain I could be burning up or slipping. So The APP(acclerator pedal position ) gets involved and say we will just limp on home.Remeber i love juguars so does tow trucks
Trans failsafe is "Limp" mode, it means a sensor has triggered due to a fault in OBC. You need to bring it to BMW or a competent shop to have a fault scan done to identify the actual cause. Limp mode allows you to drive short distance (so you're not stranded roadside)
it says limp-home operations what does that mean and what is the real promblem that is occuring with my mustang. my warning display is stating engine failsafe mode when i was driving also felt no pick up for a couple of miles. please answer
When the DSC Dynamic Stability Control light is ON your traction control is OFF. It will sometimes trigger the ABS light and the Rev Limiter it is an engine protection FAIL SAFE mode. Check your brake switch on the brake pedal, this sounds like the problem wen replaced it will reset the Rev limiter, if the ABS light comes Check the wheel sensors
Sounds to me like the mass airflow meter, cutting in and out. When faulty it can completely shut a car off, and also ingauge limp mode. I hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.
