Starting fluid is a thing of the past. dont use it. this car doesnt have a carb, its a throttle body/ electronic fuel injection system. you most likely have a fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator issue. test the fuel pressure, should be anywheres from 35-50 psi

Volt meter bouncing up &down rapidly

When the alternator goes bad, it can start doing that, and eventually will stop working. If the ground was not tight the starter wouldn't work

I got a 2000 crown vic. police interceptor an it came with no alternator, got new one and it came with 3 wires and my wiring in the car has 2 wires, whats with the 3'd wire.

They had a couple different alternators for that car, basically the same alternator but different regulators, might be where your trouble lies

I have two questions 2001 ford Crown Vic LS, Codes read: (p0720 output speed sensor circuit), & (p1131 lack of heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1 switch indicates lean)........Keep in mined that I...

The PCM is programed for the LS engine parameters and now that you have changed engines the signal from the new engine are out of parameters> Either see if you can get the PCM reprogrammed at a dealership or purchase a new PCM and program the chip with the police engine interceptor to the vehicle> you may also return to the place where you got the engine and purchase the PCM for the police vehicle.

What method is used to check the crank sensor to make sure it's working on 1996 crown vic police interceptor.

  • Yea, you can test it. Put your multi-mater to Ohms and put the leads on the sensor. You should have around 700-900 Ohms and this is good.
  • test the output Voltage of the sensor by putting your mater on Voltage AC and (with the leads on the same way) Now crank the engine over (it won't start because the sensor is disconnected) and look for a reading over 200mV

  • That's how your test your Crankshaft Position Sensor.

2000 crown vic police interceptor bypass a/c clutch pulley

you can get a A/C Delete kit for a Ford 4.6 liter. the 4.6 v-8 accessory drive system is all the same. You may also be able to run a line of string around the pullys, take it to your local auto parts store and they can match it up. I recomend the kit,

99 crown vic police interceptor steering wheel??

i have ran into 2 issues in these vehicles---if it binds while sitting still also, check the steering shaft, i have found the u-joints in the shaft tighten up and binds dangerously tight---if they are free, sounds like you may have a steering box issue or restriction in a line---hope this was helpful!!

Have you checked the fuel filter. Fuel pump will pressure up, but fuel filter could be clogged and not work without the pressure of the fuel pump.
