How to change Headlight HID bulbs in Infiniti QX4

We own a 2002 Infiniti QX4 that needs the low beam headlight bulbs changed. The owner's manual stated must be done at the dealer. I figure it could not be that hard to change the HID Bulbs. I got the driver's side bulb cover off, but could not get the bulb out. Do I have to remove the air cleaner box to get the bulb out? Do I also have to remove the battery to change the other side, or do I have to remove the headlight assembly?
Thank You.

The right front low beam on my Infiniti 2001 Qx4 comes on the after about 30 seconds shuts off and stays off. If it turn it back on again with the switch it does the same thing. I see the battery is pretty much in the way.

Is the factory unit very expensive I seen someone replaced there factory with after market. What aftermarket and do you have to change wiring.

    Thanks in advance

I need to replace the running light on the passenger side of my 1998 Infinity QX4. Any suggestions as to the "procedure" for access and removal of the plastic running light assembly housing?

It is really not that difficult for an 01 qx4, and if you order the bulb online you'll save enough money that if it takes you two or three tries (and bulbs) you'll still save over what the dealer or a mechanic would charge you:
Don't touch anything on the new bulb besides the plastic base (don't touch the glass!)
1. Make sure you disconnect the battery before anything else (you don't want to get shocked by these high voltage babies). If you're replacing the passenger side bulb, take the battery out for more room to work, especially to see what's going on in there (you can undo the air filter case on the drivers side for the same benefit, again--disconnect the battery first). 2. Find and unscrew the round, black, plastic lid behind the headlight, it's up and to the left. 3. You'll see a shiny metal connector with electrical warnings printed on it and Michael Jackson glove looking wiring attached to it. Turn that gently to the left to open up access to the actual bulb (you'll now see the bottom/back of the bulb--a black circle with a small metal tip in the middle). 4. Unhook the two metal braces that hold the bulb in place (push in gently to let wire out--kind of like unhooking a bungee cord or unsetting a mouse trap). 5. Pay attention how the two divots on the bulb case line up with the little nubs at the top of the encasing (you have to put the new one in lining up the same way.) 6. You can now take out the bulb. You might consider practicing the replacement sequence with your old bulb that you just took out before sticking the new one in there--just to get the hang of it so you aren't banging the new one around. 7. Once you've got the bulb back in there just put everything else back in place in reverse order. 8. Wash those dirty hands and try turning on your lights. 9. Go celebrate your automotive victory by driving somewhere at night!

I replaced my factory HID bulbs with aftermarket ones, I removed the air box cleaner the get full access to the bulb and for the passenger side I did remove the battery. Removing these items makes it a whole lot easier.

Purchase a replacement on ebay (bulbs not one but two). Xenon gas bulbs change color overtime therefore replacing them both makes perfect sense. I would highly recommend looking at 6000k (color/brightness) these will have more "blue" look when lit, but will also be bit brighter than stock. You should be able to have both delivered for less than $40! as of 11.20.10

Most total headlight failures are caused by a bad component like a fuse, relay, or module. Wiring problems can also cause both headlights to stop working. High beam headlights don't work or low beams don't work. If just one bulb fails to work in either high beam mode or low beam mode, it may be the bulb. Check your manual to find your headlamp relay.

Installed opt7 hid headlight conversion kit on 2004 ford f150, low beams sometimes come on and some times they won't, makes noise when you turn switch

I also suspect a bad ground in this case. Some HID kits actually use a mechanical action to move the bulb in or out for high/low beams, I suspect the sound is the bulb arching as it tries to move to the correct position.

Lights will not turn on

HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING

It can be faulty headlight switch or issue with its wiring. Or its faulty head light fuse.

2004 Lincoln Navigator low beam headlight went out so I changed the bulb and fuse but it still does not work.

If you have the HID bulbs check with an Autoparts store like Autozone. I believe the right and left headlights have separate Relays in the Powerbox. It is possible that there are 2 low beam and 2 high beam relays total. They pull too much power for both sides to be wired together and may wire the high beams separate too!

How do I remove halogen low beam head light to replace it?

Removal & Installation To Remove:
WARNING
The halogen fog light bulb contains gas under pressure. The bulb may shatter if the glass envelope is scratched or if the bulb is dropped. Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass envelope.
NOTE: The headlight bulb should not be removed from the headlight assembly until just before a replacement bulb is installed. Removing the bulb for an extended period of time may affect headlight bulb performance. Contaminants may enter the headlight assembly where they can settle on the lens and reflector. Never turn on the headlights with the bulb removed.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section. NOTE: Make sure that the headlight switch and the ignition switch are in the OFF position.
  2. Remove the pin-type retainers, screws and the air deflector from the radiator.
  3. Remove the three bolts and the headlight assembly.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  5. Remove the cover from the rear of the headlight assembly.
  6. If equipped with HID, release the spring tabs to remove the low beam bulb, otherwise disconnect the electrical connector and remove the bulb.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the high beam bulb.

To Install:
  1. Place the headlight assembly in the proper position.
  2. Install the cover from the rear of the headlight assembly.
  3. Connect the electrical connector.
  4. Install the three bolts and the headlight assembly.
  5. Install the radiator air deflector.

HID low beam headlight replacement for 2003 lexus es300

The HID bulbs are very easy to change, and can be bought online for much less than from the dealer. Check sites like xenondepot and Ebay for Phillips D2R (for reflector headlamps) HID bulbs and you can replace them yourself.
