How do I find thw pcm/ecm on a 2006 cadillac cts

Is the pcm the same as the ecm? Bc when I asked the dealer about the pcm he said that the 06 cadillac cts only has a ecm. Is the pcm the same as the ecm? Bc when I asked the dealer about the pcm he said that the 06 cadillac cts only has a ecm.

Strait out of the service manual

The ECM was on older cars and has been replaced with the PCM since around 1990-1991 on GM at least. The both do the same thing but the PCM'S ability to communicate is far superior to the ECM. Perhaps the dealer was using old terms or was confused (your not the first one to make this statement about someone mislabeling the computer). But all in all they are the same thin but you only have one or the other and you have a PCM.
