1986 dodge aries starts and dies after 2 minutes the lost of power light is on can somebody help please why is doin this? the pcm is stopping the fuel pump so the car dies i try sprying alcohol in the carburator and pass the 2 minutes mark but eventualli died what sensor is related to the fuel system the is making the pcm cut the electricity to the fuel pump in 2 minutes or less please help thankyou.

Remove both key cylinders & take to a
lock smith

They can either take them apart or pick them
& make a key that will work

had the same issue 4months ago, it end up being the pcm, i hve a 2000 dodge durango as well

I am currently working on the same car, the one im working on is a K though (wagon), but same engine. What I found the issue to be is a bad fuel line.

check ur battery cables an connections for resistance causing a bad voltage drop upon starting.chek ur grounds at the blok for bad rusted connections and wiresthat are all corroded, peel insulation bak to inspect wires for corrosion

The map sensor is located in the front seating area, passenger side, under dash, behind lower kick panel, mounted on top side of logic module. Dodge can never make anything simple. I hope this helps and good luck.

check the plug for moisture on the throttlebody, blow it out with compressed air and make sure it is dry. plug in and try. On GM cars it says reduced engine speed

Hello doncoth...very low mileage for an 88 aries and i doubt that anything serious is going on.
In 88 these engines were carbureted, not fuel injected & majority of the stalling problems were fuel system related on these cars,
like a broken or split vacuum hoses allowing air to be sucked into the intake manifold. Unmetered air changes the fuel mixture, and can cause a stalling problem..
Since the check engine light is coming on we need to find out what the trouble codes are.
To get the codes, put the key in the ignition and turn the key to the "run" position until all the dash lights come on (DO NOT START) Have your paper and pen ready to take notes.
Turn key back "off",then to "run" again,"off" again and then back to "run " and leave it there.....The check engine light will begin flashing....It will flash a 2 digit code....For instance,2 blinks followed by a pause,then 1 more blink would be code "21"....The last code displayed will be 55 (test is over) From that information we can determine the cause of the condition.
