Your car has the abilty to retreve the trouble codes with out a scanner, so lets start there turn the key on but do not crank the engine then turn key off then turn key on then turn key off and then back on ( key on-off-on-off-on ) the power loss light will start to flash count the flashs all codes willl be 2 diget ( flash-flash pause flash-flash-flash = code 23 ) get back with me with the codes and i will look them up and see if we can get to the bottom of the problem.
My Chilton book doesn't have a lot on vehicle specific emission controls. What I did find is this. Apparently the "loss if power light" will turn on if the temp sensor wire has been removed and then reattached. Have you recently done work at the thermostat? The temp sensor is mounted on the thermostat housing. To turn the "loss of power light" off, disconnect the positive battery terminal and then re-attach it. No waiting. Start the engine and then shut it off. After that turn the key ON and OFF several times to clear any fault codes in the computer. This may help because stored codes make the computer think the problem still exists and it reacts accordingly. Hope this helps.
