starter? New battery drained = something is still powered, open/short. new ign switch and steering won't lock = something was not put together right and the ignition is staying on and draining the battery.
Sounds like you have a bad starter solenoid. You are probably going to need a new starter. You could get under the vehicle to make sure you have 12 volts to the starter to verify. Also make sure battery connections and ground wire is good
Disconnect battery.
Find positive battery wire and follow it to lower side of engine to the starter.
Disconnect battery wire from starter.
Loosen & remove the (usually 2) retaining bolts holding starter to engine.
Remove starter with a back and down action.
may work may not...on older cars when the starter went bad and the car wouldn't start you could tap the starter with a long screwdriver or hammer lightly and the solenoid would engage and start the car but you need to get it home or to shop cause it wouldn't work again..if you try this and the starter engages then the starter needs to be replaced if you haven't already tried..if the lights are flashing when you try to start the vehicle then o would say its prob a malfunctioning alarm system..try to diengage it by pulling fuse for alarm..don't know if you can though..check the starter...good luck
pull starter back off but do not disconnect cables, then try key again, if starter spins use a large standard screwdriver to turn the flywheel through the starter mounting hole,if it doesnt move u have motor trouble
Remove the skid plate behind the drivers side wheel make sure the battery is disconnected. Its really hard to get at I had to use a ratchet and a long extension an extra set of hand up top also helps If I remember correctly I think after it was off I took it out through the wheel well.
