Car shudders when accelerating or revving when I accelerate my car shudders, when I take my foot off the accelerator it is fine. When stopped and placed in park or neutral and I push on the accelerator, it runs fine until it comes out of idle and starts shuddering. I have been having this problem off and on for quite some time and have been treating the gas for cleaning the fuel system as well as for water in the gas. It seems though, however that I am having to treat it more and more or it gives me problems. I am treating it every fill up now. I very rarely allow the gas tank to get below half tank. The car is automatic

So treating the gas cures the problem? What are you treating it with?

SOURCE: Transmission shudder

I had a similar problem on my 93 Accord after I accidentally threw the car in reverse at 50 mph, obviously wrecking the transmission. When I got it rebuilt I was told the transmission pump was to blame (clogged with "shrapnel"). I, and your car manual, recommend taking the car in to get the tranny looked at. Especially considering you just had the fluid changed which is what would normally cause the problems you are describing.

You need to have your engine flushed and cleaned out. One or more of your spark plugs aint firing. You need to replace them all to include the wires as well. If you dont get your engine flushed, you could blow your engine up.

SOURCE: Car shudders when accelerating...

My wife's 02 Audi A4 1,8t had the same problem after talking with Audi (coil pack/spark plugs) we replaced them all and the problem still persisted not to say that won't fix your problem but what I found to be the problem was 3/8 vacuum line (shaped like a S) that comes up on the right hand side between the oil filter and the fire wall that comes from the turbo check valve assembly (its hard to locate and should be done with the engine cool) up to a valve assembly that connects to the intake manifold, what was happening was the hose would become spongy at the bottom (you will have to squeeze the hose from top to bottom to notice the difference) and as the engine heats up it would cause the hose to collapse. Once I replaced the hose and the computer reprogrammed the fuel mixture (about 25 miles of driving) the problem seems to have been correct. Good luck.I had also replaced the turbo check valve about three years ago because of a severe hesitation when you first apply gas (turbo check valve may not be the proper name.) Sorry. It may be throttle position sensor or camshaft sensor. Most likely the throttle sensor.

Shudder in mazda tribute

Sounds like the torque converter is chattering and likely will have to be replaced. Have a trans shop verify that. The other problem is a separate question and should be posted that way.

When starting out from a stop, the car (cvt) shudders for a second or two while the car is accelerating. Is there any friction modifiers that can be added to the trans fluid other than Honda's $15/quart...

it sounds like you have worn engine or transmission mounts. if it was friction from the transmission it would happen anytime you accelerate, not just from a stop. place rubber or wood stops in front and behind the front wheels, pull the e-brake. now have someone hold the brake pedal and start the car. have them put the car in gear and rev the engine, making sure the car doesnt move. while revving the engine, look at the position of the engine and how much it shifts around from its initial position. excessive movement of the engine indicates a worn or loose mount. this will also affect acceleration from a stop. what you are experiencing is the weight of the car catching up with movement of the engine. once they come together, the shuddering stops.

if you went the route of changing the plugs, try the spark plug wires, and the distibutor cap
