GM's have had problems with the antitheft system shutting off fuel injectors. Look for a light on the dash that says SECURITY when this happens. If you see this light, go to this link.

03 Chevy Silverado 4.3 crank No start. 0 fuel pressure. Details below

If the pump is starting, and you can hear it, then something in the tank is either intermitently blocking the inlet to the pump or something is blocking the line to the engine. It is also possible the pump pickup is not within the the fuel. However, it is not unusual for older vehicles to have corrosion in the metal fuel line caused by water or other contaminent in the fuel that breaks off and intermitently plugs the line or the filter.

My 1999 Nissan Wingroad starts fine in the mrning going to work but after work when I try and start it I have to turn it over for ages before i starts ... any ideas?

Oh yeah ! listen.
Check your fuel pressure first. If it is weak, and you have a fuel filter outside the gas tank. Replace it.
Could also be your fuel pressure regulator , or your fuel pump. Hope this helps.
If I got you right, You drive to work and park it. later on in the day you try and start your car, and it takes a long time before it does start. Try this next time it happens . Turn your key to where the lights turn on in your dash. Count to 3, shut off the key and turn the key on again for another 3 secs. Shut it down again and on the third time turn it over and see if it starts then. If so , it is a fuel pressure problem. As soon as you turn off your key turn your key to on right of way... Good luck.

Random times of no crank

If the security light is flashing, the chip in the key or the sensor in the key lock may be faulty. If the engine computer "sees" the right chip in the key, it allows the engine to start.
If the light is not flashing you would need to check for power at the starter when the engine will not crank. Also try cranking in neutral.

This is about to be rather lengthy, so I apologize in advance. I traded for a 98 Firebird on April 19th. Already broke down. The problem doesn't lie within the engine or transmission however. What...

Sounds like the electrical part of the ignition switch, not the lock cylinder that needs replacing.
Possible also that cutting that wire to the security module immobilized it.

2001 chevy silverado fails to start on random days, 50 psi fuel pressure at test port, a couple of hours later it starts perfectly and does so for a month or so then does it again

need to check fuel pressure before trying to start and see if it's bleeding down or staying pressurized hook gauge on and check periodically before trying to start, seems like mine done that and it was a b ad fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail, 5.3 ? it's on drivers side rail with vacumn line erunning to it about the size of silver dollar diam.

My 91 cutless ran out of gas one day and has never ran right since. Replaced ever sensor on the car, fuel pump every thing. Runs good for 2 or 3 days and then it won't stay started. Went out few mouths...

You may have loaded a fuel line or connector up with contaminants. What else is happening during the second or 3rd day of running? Is it running low on fuel? Try to make a list of your gauge set! It only makes sense.

1998 Buick Skylark Theft System light on won't start. I have no chip in my key, and it starts every time for months than randomly it won't start for a day or week.

Right around 98 GM starting using Passlock antitheft instead of the old Vats system which had the visible chip in the key. Your system most likely has a transponder in the key head. Same idea, just a newer system. Go to this link. It explains the problem along with a few ways you can fix it yourself with out having to buy multiple parts that may not be broken.

1999 Chevy S10 cranks but wont start

A very common problem on the 99 S10 is a leaky fuel pressure regulator in the intake plenum. What happens is when the truck sits for a few hours or more the regulator leaks all of the fuel in the fuel injection system into the intake air plenum. This does 2 things, 1 it has no fuel pressure when starting and 2 it floods the air intake with raw fuel. Sometimes if you turn the key on wait 3 seconds then turn key off then turn key back on and just turn key to crank starter for a split second and wait 3 seconds.do this 3 times to repressurize fuel system then crank to start(you will hear fuel pump buzz each time you do this.also you may have leaky fuel injectors. Try to crank engine with the gas pedel to the floor. This will tell the computer to stop spraying fuel trhough the injectors and it will start. Joe ASE Master Tech
