yes, if there are no bleed ports, just park uphill and run the engine with the cap off the radiator. keep the radiator full until no bubbles come out.

SOURCE: how do i bleed my coolant system on my 2001

  1. All you need to do is remove radiator cap.
  2. Run car until hot and you see antifreeze circulating
  3. and more antifreeze until full
That's all that's to it.

Water leak underneth 93 ford thunder bird. Don't seem to be coming from the radiar. It's leaking some where near the crank shaft. I really can pin point it yet.

Sounds like it's leaking from the water pump. There are weep holes in the water pump and when the bearing in the water pump has worn out, coolant will start to leak from the holes.

Replace the water pump after you inspected it for any signs of leak. Good luck and thank you for using Fixya.

I have a 1996 LeBaron V6 3.0 at slow speeds it's ok but at highway speeds it over heats. Checked timing and it was good. Can it be the trans. acting up?

If your car is not loosing coolant, it might be a stuck thermostat, or a louse impeller on the water pump shaft. To find it out, start the car, and while in idle open the coolant bleeding valve. if you will see a coolant jet popping out then the water pump is O.K. Stop the engine and after cooling, then it is worth to remove thermostat, inspect and if necessary replace it with a new one.

1993 Geo : How do I bleed air from the cooling system? Is there a bleed valve? Where is it located?

No bleed valve. If you want to get the air out of the system, just run the car until it's hot and the thermostat opens, and then run it some more so that the coolant is fully distributed. The air will get to the top of the engine - the filler cap. Then after it's cool you can refill the engine, and the overfill tank.

1995 Ford Thunderbird Temp Gauge goes up when idling

Try to bleed the system. Also keep an eye on the coolant level. If it drops and you see no leaks the you could have a blown head gasket. Also replace the thermostat and hoses.

1993 Previa heat doesn't work

Thanks for the quick reply. What you have is a thremostat that is stuck in the "open" position. This would explain why the temp gauge reads low. Also, this condition will also cause the engine to seem like it is "revving up". Why? Because the OverDrive will not engage until the temperature of the coolant is 172 degrees F. When the coolant reaches that temp, the OD solenoid gets power from the ECU, dependant on the temp mentioned above...NOW, when the temp of the coolant DROPS below 172 (as in having a seized open thermostat), the solenoid is de-energized by the ECU, and the trans shifts OUT of OD. Downshifting to the next lower gear cause the RPMs to incerase. In any case, replace the thermostat, and whilst you are doing this, replace the coolant, also. If you have RED coolant, that is factory Toyota coolant. Is is a GOOD IDEA to continue using the red coolant if you already have it in your cooling system. Buy the stat and the coolant at a Toyota dealer. Do NOT buy an "aftermarket" stat. The cheaper ones do NOT have the air "wiggle" valve built into the stat. Install the stat with the little "wiggle valve" pointing straight up; "12 o'clock". Add 50-50 coolant water mix, Bleed the air from the cooling system & you will be fine.
