1999 ford windstar automatic transmission van won't move when shifted into any gear. makes no noise or anyting , like it's in neutral.

could be low in fluid or the transmission could be bad.

You need to adjust the Switch, it thinks you are in Gear

sounds like a solenoid problem

try to replace transmission strainer first torque convertor and see if that helps if not it probabaly the transmission

try topping trans fluid this normally the case on most auto's

sounds like your issue is either involving the torque convertor, or more than likely the transmission is at fault. your gear shift lever is actually mechanically linked to the trans, the gear position sensor would not cause the van not to move, sorry for the bad news!

replace the transmission control module

If the transmission neutralizes when you come to a stop, and will only move by shifting to second gear, then that means that the 1st gear clutch piston is cracked. This is a very common problem with the Windstars. Solution is to have the transmission repaired and have the aluminum piston replaced with an updated piston.
