2001 Mercury Grand Mrquis will not crank when the AC is on. Car stays cranked once engine has started.

Disconnect battery for about 5-10 minutes then see if your code has cleared. If you have access to a code reader that would be your best bet.

Try removing the drive belt and hand spin each pulley to see if any are locked up . A frozen accessory could cause what your describing. If one is frozen, with belt still off, try to crank and start the car.

Low fuel pressure or problem with spark plugs or crank sensor is got dirty and needs cleaning or its time to replace crank sensor.

The crank and cam sensors produce ac voltage that is sent to the computer. There are magnets or components on the crank and cam that the sensors "read".
The problem could be the harness between the sensors and the computer, or a mechanical problem like a timing chain or gear.

my mercury grand marquise turns over but wont start what could it be. would a fuse keep it from starting?

for a quick fix, try putting the car in neutral, put the key in and start the car. you'll have to have the problem checked out. the shift lock solenoid circuit is faulty.

probably it is your crank shaft sensor when it is cold it expands and when it gets hot it is not making contact

check terminals, might be cracked or not tightened good
