Being a HZJ75 it will not have spark plugs as "ngkaneloc" suggested . You said the heat is fine (do u mean the glow plugs) because if they arent working the 1HZ is hard to start even when the ampient air temperature is hot (summer time even in 40C).

Do you live in a cold climate?

I have a 2001 LandCruiser. I have one key, the original key. Sometimes it starts right up and other times it will not turn over, will not budge, it is like it is jammed. My husband seems to think it may have something to do w. the way the front wheels are turned when I turn off the engine. Someone suggested that maybe the key is worn so that it no longer fits correctly in the ignition. I would welcome any suggestions.

Two first things to check fuel and spark ...fuel make sure your fuel pump is working its messy but the easiest way is to pull the fuel line "only one connection" and turn key to on then press gas pedal and gas should pump out if not fuel pump is bad... if thats not it you want to check for spark easiest way is to pull one of the spark plug wires and stick a screwdriver in the end then hold the screwdriver to where the metal shank is approx. 1/4" away from any metal surface ... hold the screwdriver without touching the metal shank!!! have someone crank the engine you should see a spark intermittently between the screwdriver and the metal youre holding it close to.. if thats ok the only other thing i can suggest is get a battery with more cca "cold cranking amps"..hope this helps..OH YA ON A SAFER NOTE!!!...DONT LOOK FOR SPARK WITH THE ENGINE WET WITH FUEL..

Hzj75 landcruiser won't start

If I recall correctly, there is a FUSIBLE LINK on the lead that connects to the regulator output then goes through the firewall into the dashboard area. The fusible link will be black or gray plastic and will be stamped with the words FUSIBLE LINK. This can be cut out and replaced with a fuse holder of any type, and an appropriate 30A fuse can be used.
If the fusible link is not at fault, it can be either the IGNITION SWITCH or the IGNITION RELAY (under the dashboard... follow the wires from the ignition switch).

Troopy 75 Series landcruiser engine problem? hi

Check your air filter housing and the air intake piping. There is a reason why there are high level air intakes available for your vehicle, it is to stop water getting inside the combustion chambers. There is a possibility that your engine has sucked water into the induction system. It needs to be checked and cleaned as soon as possible. Water in the combustion chambers WILL kill your engine.

Hi I havs a 95 HZJ75 landcruiser with a 1 HZ motor . the engine started overheating I have replaced water pump ,radiator thermostate now i have oil in the radiator and engine overheats within 10 min...

i think you may have overheated this unit again and possibly have crack or cracks in the head around the precomb to exhaust valve area, and a few thou bend in head too. Question :- Do you have an after market turbo on this unit?

1999 landcruiser has intermittent starting problems. Sometimes it starts fine. Other times turns over once then nothing. Other times clicks but no turn-over. Other times no click, no start. Battery is good...

I had a similar problem with my landcruiser sometimes it would start no probs at all and other times it would start to crank and then stop and you had to try a couple of times to start it. It ended up being the starter motor contacts failing.
Just another thing to look at

1998 Toy Landcruiser won't even turn with brand new 800 Cc battery. after checking the battery decided to jump start it worked fine for 2 hours, when shut off it won't turn again. what is the matter?

if you hear a clunk when you try to start it, remove the starter and have it tested, turn on the head lights and try to start if the head lights go out it is a problem with the battery or battery cables, if lights stay on it is a starter problem.

I have the exact same problem with my HZJ75, have had injectors and pump reconditioned, checked glow pluga and pre-heater timer, all ok...yet still a struggle to start?? PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP.

I thing you repaired old injection pump and injectors
Have you check the pressure from the pump can open the injectors?
I-loose the all injector main pipe from the injection pump only injectors side
2-try to crank the engine just start while engine moving if you see diesel pressure where you loose means injection pump looks good, try to fixed all the pipes while engine cranking if the engine refuse to star injectors needs to resit correct opening pressure.
3-check the injectors pressure follow instruction manual book.
4-Check is any leaks all connections.
5-Check engine compression.

good luck
