1993 nissan terrano car stereo. I have located the amp that controls the rear speakers. Does anyone know where to locate the amp for front speakers? I am installing a new head unit and want to bypass both amps. Unable to locate front left and right speaker wires. I am assuming they go through an amp like the rear speakers.

I work at a Chrysler Jeep dealer and sell parts, and I'm sorry to tell you but this is a little problem we have run into many times with these vehicles. The factory speakers are **** and of course we have no wiring diagrams showing how to install aftermarket speakers without replacing the head unit with an aftermarket one. I just had to do this with my Mitsubishi Galant when I bought some Focal component speakers for my doors. I went with the Alpine radio and it seems very nice and I think it will do great for your speakers also. Hope this helped.

The front doors of the Terrano (D21 Japanese import) are like a jigsaw puzzle, and the bits should fit and come apart without force.
First, look down into the handgrip of the doorpull and you will see a small round plastic plug. Take this out with a sharp screwdriver, and there is the first screw to undo. This allows the handgip to come off, revealing the screw holding the electric window winder switches etc to come off.
The panel of the door itself comes off by carefully pulling the doorcard and the small nylon doorstuds out of the metal frame of the door. Then lift the doorcard up and unhook the the inside door latch wire from the doorcard.
This will reveal the speakers or at least where they should be behind the wire grilles.

As for the alternator belt, may I suggest that you also replace the A/C and the powersteering belts at the same time. Theoretically if one is worn, the others will be,too.
I crawled under the front of the vehicle and took off the splash shield so I could reach up into the crankshaft pulley area.
Both the adjusters for the powersteering andf the alternator can be slackened off from the top of the engine, but I recommend removing the alternator altogether, which allows better access to the adjuster for the A/C belt.Slacken this off.
This tensioner has a roller bearing in the centre of it, take the large bolt out and the tensioner will come off. You will see a bearing in the middle of it, press this out and replace it with a new bearing, it is common and cheap, and if it wears out it will scream very loudly.
Wiggle off the three belts from their pulleys, taking note of their order, and where each drives off the main cranksharft pulley.
Buy the correct replacements (length and Section) and if the belts look like a dog's breakfast, go to someone who can measure them properly. Refit in the correct grooves and pattern, you may have to slacken off the adjusters quite a lot if the old belts have been stretched to the max. Tighten to the correct tension, too much just damages the belts and the bearings in the alternator,a/c, or powersteering; too little allows them to slip and damages belts through overheating.

This is also a good time to check that the auto trans hoses leading to the cooler in the bottom of the radiator are in good condition and the clamps are tight.
Why not replace these hoses, and while you are there, the top and bottom radiator hoses as well?
Then you'll know that it has been done.
