Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo: electrical system starting to fail?? Hi! I hope someone can point me in the right direction :) I have a 2004 JGC-L that I LOVE, but the electrical system seems to be failing bit by bit. First my windows stopped working, then my locks, now my over-head lights won't come on automatically (not at in in the rear)& the CD player doesn't work correctly. Also, when I turn on my headlights at night, the dash lights are now so dim I can hardly see the spedometer. Everyone keeps telling me "it's a fuse!", but I have looked at the fuse guide in my book and I do not see any fuses for these particular areas. Yesterday I had someone "fiddle" with the power locks and all of them are working except for the driver side door & he said the power to it was dead. Any ideas?

Note that you never once said car can be driven? why?
job1, can you do job 1?
battery is going dead
if head lamps are dim its battery going dead, (not dash HEADs?)
notice is did not say battery was bad only discharged.

if engine starts is charge.battery lamp glowing.
i engine is dead, can crank it.
get a jump, call AAATOW
or find a loaned battery that is charged.
buy a battery charger and use it.

also cars can have phantom drains, as you sleep battery goes dead. (ask)

SOURCE: 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee - problem with power windows/locks

This seems to be the affects of a bad dinamo charging your battery . If you take a appart the dinamo you should fine a part called in mechanic terms "the bones" they look like 2 black magnets with a wire coming out of them . They are not expencive and you should not change your dinamo untill you try this first a car dinamo is very expencive .

SOURCE: power windows won t work

There are broken wires in the wiring harness between the frame and your driver's side door. These wires control all the windows and door locks in a 95 Jeep. Same thing happened to me. You will have to cut the rubber boot to get it off and check which wires are broken and repair them.

most of the time it means you should get your oil changed, and if you look in your owners manual it will tell you by mileage other items that should be taken care of when the light comes on.

SOURCE: Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 1997 .. no power.. just

hello. either your battery is bad, or your charging system is bad. If you have AAA, call them and they will come out and jump you for free, also they will have a device with them to check your charging system and they will even have a new battery if you choose to purchase one from them.

That said, if you do not have AAA, get a jump and drive to any autozone or similar parts store and they will do the same services for you.

SOURCE: Driver side door switches are not working. Dome

My power locks, windows didn't work and the dome lights would not turn off after closing the door. I removed the black boot that was attached to the drivers door by lifting upward and pulling away from the door. A heavy gauge black wire was broken. I removed about 3/16" of insulation from both ends of the broken wire and connected them by using a connector that both ends are placed in to and then "crimped" both ends so the broken wire made contact with each other and everything worked perfectly! The hardest part was replacing the boot. Total cost to fix is $0.50.

If this is a Cherokee, review the Repair Manual XJ Cherokee

If this is Grand Cherokee, review ths Repair Manual ZJ-Secc-8W-Wiring-Diagrams (page 7, 9 and 10 for location, details and description). The diagramas can find it in the next pages.
