Check the harness for the injector for loose connections. Also, if you purchase a noid light(Oreily's carries them) to plug into the #5 fuel injector harness and turn on the car to see if it's telling the injector to fire. If the pulsing of the light is intermittent and not steady then there may be an issue with the computer. If the light is not coming on at all then there may be a break in the wire or like i said a bad computer.

Same cylinder all the time? What brand of spark plug did you put in? Have you cleaned injector connection? If spark plug and wires are known good, injector and connection would be next. Did you erase code after other work done?

Dodge stratus misfire, runs rough has random misfires in cylinder 1,3,and 5 and a vacuum leak, I,m not too worried about the leak unless it is related to the misfire

I WOULD REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR.MARK LOCATION OF ROTOR OR MAKE NOTE SO YOU CAN INSTALL NEW ROTOR IN CORRECT FIRING POSITION. IF THIS CAR HAS A LOT OF MILES I WOULD REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP, ROTOR.SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES.REPLACE IGNITION COIL.CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS, FILL GAS TANK UP TO 3/4 TO FULL TANK OF GAS POUR CAN SEAFOAM IN FUEL TANK IT WILL FLUSH OUT THE FUEL INJECTORS WHILE ENGINE RUNNING OR DRIVING CAR. REPLACE FUEL FILTER. REASON I SAY DO A TUNE UP PROBLEM COULD BE MINOR FIX.COULD NEED TUNE UP.IF TUNE UP DONT HELP THEN YOUR PROBLEM IS DISTRIBUTOR OR THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR INSIDE OF DISTRIBUTOR.THAT WOULD SET OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.BUT I WOULD SAY TUNE UP COULD FIX PROBLEM.

I have a 1998 D1500 318 V-8 3.2L . The computer keeps tripping the check engine light and coding cylinder 4 misfire--yet the plug is good and the distributor cap is not purnt...computer problem??

Hi, there are 2 common reasons for a single cylinder misfire you have not addressed it: faulty fuel injector and burnt valve.
You need a voltmeter to test the injector:
Check the resistance across the injector terminals. It should be about 12 ohms. If open or shorted, replace the injector.
After removing an injector, apply 12 volts DC across the terminals. A "click" should be heard. If not, replace the injector.
If ok, then you need to do an engine compression leakdown test with cylinder compression gauge. if compression leaks down in that cylinder, then you have a burnt valve causing the misfire

Code p0300 coming up random cylinder misfire already changed wires had cylinder 5 misfire .should i replace coil

If you already replaced the wires, I would suggest replacing the plugs, distributor cap and rotor. They are also very important parts of the spark. Fuel injector problems can also cause misfires.

99 5.2 durango :pulled codes for multipe missfire cylinder #5-7

Aloha We have just replaced all of what you have replaced, plus water pump, fuel pump, pcv valve and 02 sensor. Took it to mechanic today we had misfire on 1,2,6,7. Mechanic said that the 99 dodge is known for bad computers, he checked ours and works great turns out that it was the coil. Ours was jumping 1/4 inch and had a orange/yellow spark. it is supposed to have a 1 inch spark and be blue. This has solved our problems after 527 dollars later.
Check the coil!
