It could be the spark plug wire, or the coil. 2004 model you should have coil over plug (C.O.P) setup. Also check for any signs for arcing around the spark plug boot area and around the coil. Any white or gray lines on the boot area or coil is an indication of arcing. If arcing is happening, the current will take a short cut to ground instead of jumping the gap at your spark plug, thus giving you a "no fire" situation. I also ways recommend replacing spark plugs in a set along with new wires. I don't recommend just changing one.

I have a 1997 mercedes benz s500 gas meter is not working properly slow acceleration seems the transmission may be slipping slow on take off car shaking in park and diving

If the RPM's go high and barely moving. The transmission is slipping. Eventually it will stop moving when the clutches are completely worn out. The more you drive it like this, the more internal damage you can cause. The shaking could be this also. But you could need a tune up, or could have bad engine mounts.

Shaking like as a miss or shaking like a vibration? If it seems like it wants to stall out or pops back when accelerating it more than likely an issue with ignition or a fouled cylinder. If not a cylinder missing its a broken engine or transmission mount

The car is not driving, blowing white smoke, and shaking very bad? So what should do

white smoke (alot) usually means water/antifreeze getting into firing chamber- head gasket(most likely) or a cracked head/block (less likely)- check oil dipstick- if oil is "milky" definite leak somewhere

Eratic idling

I would not recomend cleaning plugs they are kind of self cleaning. When they go they start to missfire or stop firing alltogether. In 4cylinder engines you can rely tell if a plug is not firing it will make an engine shake. I would start with fresh plugs.

You probably have a dead cylinder. like if you have a six cylinder it might be running on only five. could be because of a bad spark plug, ignition coil, fuel injector, plug wire. you should get it checked out.

It sounds like you need a tune change at least the wires and plugs it also could be a worn or broke motor or tranny mount.
